I’m trying to help my 22w baby self regulate during sleep times. He sleeps well at night - goes down around 7:30 and wakes up once around 3am then wakes for the day around 6:30/7am. Daytime naps he has 3/4, all around 30 minutes long. I’ve tried putting him down half asleep but he just gets panicky and becomes wide awake. As soon as his dummy falls out he starts to panic too. How can I help him sleep better independently?

It sounds like he is sleeping exceptionally well for a 22 week old. One night wake is brilliant and very normal for babies to still wake.
If you're wanting to help day time sleep, it's also very very normal for babies to need a lot of support to get to sleep. My son is 6 months and still needs a lot of support. You could potentially look into wake windows and try to get him wound down before he gets to the end of a wake window and he MIGHT be less panicky if he is calmer and not heading towards being overtired but it might just be that he needs the support and that's OK x
