What is something you found out way later than you should have that no one bothered to teach you?

First, I didn’t know you were supposed to get full maintenance on your car every so often. I have owned a car for seven years now, and I’ve never had a full maintenance work over just normal oil changes and tire check. My dad was a literal mechanic and apparently did not think this was necessary information to pass along. We only found out when my sister’s car warranty, that should have been intact, was not because she didnt follow the “recommended maintenance schedule”.
Now just yesterday, I learned that you shouldn’t do too much laundry back to back if you have a septic tank. Apparently it could over run the system. I’ve lived here for like 16 years and this washing machine is almost always going 🤯

Am I being selfish? (Little one just gone 3 months)

Yesterday my mother in law suggested a family trip next year to centre parcs with our little one and wanted to book straight away, we've said no due to only having one wage and wanting our first holiday to be just us three

(She then asked if she could just take him after us mentioning money)

She just seems to be so pushy since having my little one, I get it's her first grandchild but some of the comments are coming between me and my partner and it's not fair!

The first instance was when I was 1 week postpartum constantly asking us to go over for tea, then once I caved and went over ( I shouldn't have at the time cause the driving caused me pain as it's a 20min drive) it's now when can he stay or when can she have him alone but it's constant, however, she's took it upon herself to get a cot and has decorated a room for him which is lovely don't get my wrong but me and my partner just feel as though we're being pressured by her

Other mum disciplining daughter in front of me

I have a mum friend from the kids swimming. Our daughters are 3. We have caught up maybe 5 times. Last time at the park though she thought it appropriate to talk sternly to my daughter on multiple occasions when I already had a hold of it. Her daughter was in a standoffish mood and didn't want my daughter near her a lot of the time but was chucking tantrums when my daughter was walking away. Anyway, her daughter was on a piece of equipment and my daughter tried to get on with her and I was saying my daughters name and that her daughter didn't want anyone on there and she needed space. It took only a second before she got off it but this friend yelled my daughters name and said to get off the equipment now! And another time my daughter went to get on something next to her daughter and her daughter pushed her away and my daughter said you dont push people and she said no sweet you were pushing my daughter first! She wasn't but maybe she meant like being in her space. Its really put me off her. We see each other each week at swimming but im not keen to see her again outside as the way she was talking to my daughter was so harsh. Yes if I wasn't there it would be more excusable but again, not in her tone if voice. She has mentioned before she doesn't really have any friends in our town since she moved here 15 years ago and im now wondering if thats why. She has said before she likes to tell it how it is but this is more. What would you do? Just try to make excuses when she tries to catch up? Or flat out tell her? Feel she would be very abrasive. Also should mention im a very hands on mum and don't just let my daughter get away with treating other kids badly. She doesn't though, she just wanted to be near her friend

If you spend the whole day with your toddler, how many times a day does your child want you to do imaginative play with them? Playing house, doctors, shop, etc?

My son wants to do it all day everyday and I’m tired 😪 Even when we’re out at the park or a play centre, he still tries to initiate imaginative play. Yesterday I took him to a play centre with climbing equipment, crafts, a Lego club and all we did is sit in the one of those buggy storage spaces pretending we were fish in our undersea fish house.

Just wondering what’s normal for a toddler?

Ok so this post is more aimed at the UK mums but anyone can answer.
Soo basically let me give you some context first... I have two best friends (who dont know each other) both looking to get a mortgage currently, and as you UK mummas know its very hard to do that in your 20's and is a really big/exciting thing. One of them told me what her and her partner were doing etc house viewings and showing me the places she liked.
Now I've only just found out about my other friend (who I'm her one and only bestest friend) doing the same thing, and she ONLY told me because I told her me and my partner are viewing places to rent (cant get a mortgage currently as I am sacrificing years of studies to get my doctorates.. hence working part-time).
This has kinda pissed me off tbh because and yes I know it sounds so pathetic and a non problem but I'm pretty tired of always opening up to this friend and updating her on everything, yet shes so cagey on things all the time. Even when we meet up its mainly me talking about me as much as I ask her stuff shes just a very private person. Dont get me wrong she does tell me about things obviously and she is a great friend but I'm tired of prying to know anything about her life.
Another thing, so my little one is 5m old now and when he was a month old she was 7w pregnant and was so excited to tell me andwe would talk about it all the time. But unfortunately at her 12w scan the baby had not made it. I was so upset and she was obviously devastated. And I've tried to not deep it too much but a part of me cant help but feel like shes distanced herself a little from me because I have a baby. Idk maybe I'm way overthinking it because she asks about him a lot but I have to trust my gut and part of me thinks that shes being weird beause of the baby situation.
For more context, were the kind of friends that meet every 3-4 months but text most days. Since my baby has been born weve met once in just under 6 months and she keeps cancelling meeting up to work overtime.
Sorry that was a long one😩🤣 but please be honest am I unreasonable for being annoyed about that?? ... just to add I would never tell her/ show her that I'm annoyed

Smoothies

I use to give my children a (happy monkey) smoothie every day until I seen a video about the amount of sugar in them and how it's better for them to have fresh made smoothies even using frozen premade bags. After that I brought frozen bags an a blender.... It's been a week an then blender is still in the box 😬. I want to start doing it as they use to love smoothies but I don't know what I'm doing 😅. Can anyone help? I was going to ask on the video I watched but can't seem to find it anymore 😑 so not sure where to ask.

Birthday

It was my bday yesterday. We took my daughter to great wolf lodge for the weekend and I was happy to see her so happy all weekend. I am trying to not take that for granted. We check out day of my bday. Get home and my husband sleeps on the couch while I take screaming toddler and newborn to the store to get myself a cake. Then I come back and let him sleep. Its now 6pm and I tell him forget going out to eat lets just get take out im too tired at that point. It takes him till 8pm to get home with dinner. He did absolutely nothing all day for me. I cant help but feel so hurt. I am a twin so I never got my own bday cake growing up, so this just feels extra hurtful. Am I wrong to feel so hurt and unloved?
