My husband and I started to sleep train our son last night as all methods that originally put him to sleep have stopped working (rocking, shushing and giving a bottle, etc.). We have just begun, but he attends daycare 3 times a week and I spoke with them regarding the sleep training, but he would not go down on his own this morning, so they ended up rocking him to sleep. Of course, daycare is not going to allow him to cry or sleep train him. I am wondering, is this going to set us back or confuse him when it comes to self soothing or is it more likely he will pick up the self soothing and correlate it to being put to sleep Any advice is welcomed, please do not give me your opinions on sleep training (I know everyone has them).

I dont think the occasional rocking to sleep well confuse him that much. My lg goes to childminders and she doesnt sleep for them... sometimes she'll sleep, other times she'll stay up from 6an until 6pm... shes been sleep trained but today i held her to sleep as she was exhausted and upset. It doesn't see you back but just continue what you're doing!
Thank you!!!

I don’t have this exact experience because my kids aren’t sleep trained - but I always nurse them to sleep and obviously daycare does not do that, they just support in other ways. Kids are really adaptable and adjust well to different caregivers doing things differently.

I know this isn’t popular but I’m a huge advocate of them crying it out. I did it with both my kids and in 2 nights they slept a solid 8 plus hours. 🤷♀️ I think it’s confusing to keep going in when they’re upset because it’s basically showing them if they’re upset long enough you’ll come back. First night maybe 30-40min crying, second night 15-20, 3rd night 5min then nothing
Perfect ever since. My daughter is 2 and my son is 7. Both have slept soundly through the night since 7 months
