Conceiving after C-section

Hi all!

I’ve seen many conflicting posts about conceiving after a c-section. I ideally do not want a large gap between my children. I’m currently 5 months pp and would like to start ttc in a few months.

People who waited or didn’t wait -what was it like?

If you didn’t wait the recommended time, was it another section or is a VBAC achievable that soon?

Thank you 💗

Everyone’s different go by what your doctor said. Mine said a year wait not 18 months and that a vbac is possible.

I wouldn’t try to get pregnant before 9 months pp. I was 10 months and I think that was a good time. Before that I don’t think you’re healed enough for it to be an easier pregnancy. And if you want a vbac they don’t really like letting you have one before like that 9 month timeframe

i had my 1st little girl in september 2024, fell pregnant end of july 2025, and had my second girl in april, i could’ve tried for a vbac but decided to have an elective c-section and loved it x

Before 18 months your chances of a uterine rupture are higher and that can be life threatening. I also had a section 6m ago and didn’t want a big age gap but I will be waiting 18m because that’s what’s safest for my body and future baby

I am waiting to see a gynaecologist privately who would scan / assess how I’m healing to see if I would be in a position to start trying at the 12 month mark (ensure healed properly, lining is thick enough for uterus and ensure no issues) x

All my kids are three years apart. But I so far have had 2 C-sections due to my babies being breech.
If this baby is breech I will have a C-section it’s already Scheduled for 39 weeks.

One of my friends waited 5 years to get pregnant and still had to have a C-section and then my other friend had three kids closeish in age and had to have C-sections as well so I think it depends on your provider an what they recommend mind.

I got pregnant 8 months after my 1st section, 2nd pregnancy was far easier than the first, i was told though that i would need to have another section to minimise any chances of rupture during contractions. This decision wasnt made by the consultant though until 4 weeks before my due date. Up until that point I was told I could try for a vbac.xx

We waiting 2.5 years and I’m currently pregnant with twins so will be having another section but I was offered to try for vbac as long as there wasn’t complications (which there had been)
Only thing I’ve found is I quite often get pains in my scar and have the entire pregnancy but that could because of the extra stretching from twins.
Personally I would wait 18 months minimum as that’s what’s typically recommended, I can imagine it also being painful if your don’t let everything properly heal in that recommended 18 months

I have an 18 month gap so got pregnant around 9 months PP (for us it was intentional). Had a smooth pregnancy and great planned c-section the second time. Healthy happy baby. My scars turn into keloids so it was actually nice that they were able to cut out the first one and redo it - it’s a bit more flat this time

How many children do you want? Leaving a longer gap, makes it safe for multiple 👍 if you're stopping at two, I'd go ahead

38 weeks!

Looking for some advice, was admitted for reduced movements on Friday but self discharged as everything was okay and movements picked up. Since last night I’ve been having light spotting and then this morning feel like again movements have dropped even after a couple of cold drinks. I do have a doppler scan today so is it worth mentioning something when I get there or call up before I go?

Anyone bleed like a period in early pregnancy, or am I cooked?

I’m 10dpo today. Yesterday I was getting faints. Today they’re darker, but all of a sudden last night I started bleeding dark red like a period… but my tests today are darker but not dark enough for a digital. I’m worried about ectopic. If this were chemical wouldn’t the tests be lighter?

Clingy baby

Hi I know its quite normal for baby to want to he held all the time, but how long does this last so intensely for? It seems all day I cannot put baby down so have to wear a carrier to get anything done in the house. Do they become slightly more independent as time goes? It's really frustrating starting to have back ache from carrying everywhere

GD

I thought my results by the finger pricking were good, turns out they were great for a non pregnant lady 😂
Anyway, I have GD, and it’s likely they’ll put me on medication since my 11-12hr of fasting is still giving a high reading. I have 1-2 weeks to adjust my diet and go from there even though I’m already eating a balanced diet, and eating what I can with Hyperemesis.

Those who’ve had it, is it more common to be given tablets or injections?
And if it’s injections, is it once a day? 🫣

37 weeks and 7 triage visits for reduced movements in the past 7 days

Hi girls, I’m starting to panic now, I’ve got an elective section booked but been in triage and admitted 1 night last weeks for 7 lots of reduced movements to the point I can’t feel my baby at all.

I have a consultant appointment today and don’t know what to do as it’s driving me crazy
