Hi all, I had my booking appointment with my midwife yesterday and was generally a bit disappointed. Maybe I was naive but I thought she'd be more interested in how I am and more a general chat, but it was basically just a tick box exercise and I was done within 30 mins...
Anyway my main concern is, I wasn't asked to give a urine sample, but my understanding is that's a mandatory part of the appointment? According to Google anyway.... She took 3 blood samples but no urine. I even asked at the end but she just said 'not necessarily' and didn't seem to even really be paying attention to my question.
Should I be worried? Do I need to call someone to query this?
Anyone else had booking appt and had the same?

Sorry to hear this. My booking appointment took nearly 2 hours and felt really thorough! However, no urine sample taken, just blood. I think they do it at later appointments and/or if you’re over the threshold for gestational diabetes. Do you know if this will be your midwife from now on? Maybe you can request to switch, you definitely deserve to have someone who gives you a basic amount of time, attention and care!

Mine was pretty much a tick box situation for family medical history and lifestyle questions. But id say was there for nearly 2 hours for the questions, blood tests and urine sample. Ive not heard anything back from the tests though.
