Weaning- the clean up!

I’m just about to start the weaning journey with my second and wondering what’s the best approach for the clean up!

What are you using to clean up the baby? What about the floor and high chair? Just regular changing wipes or specific flannels?

How are you cleaning down bibs? Do you reuse them before putting through the washing machine? Where are you keeping them/storing them when they are dirty and wet before being put in the washing machine?

I know I’m overthinking this but want to avoid smelly bibs and flannels lingering between washes.
Any tips for your laundry systems gratefully appreciated. 😅

Gosh I’m so boring- this is what I think of now haha

I have silicone bibs that I wash up with the plates etc. And I bought some face flannels to wipe baby up with for bigger messes, then just throw it in the washing machine drum to be washed with the next load. If baby isn't too messy I'll just use a wipe. I do also have some long sleeved bibs as well which I just wipe down when washing up plates etc as well or put in the wash with clothes if really bad.

We used silicone bibs so they get washed up straight away and stored in the baby/kid section of one of our cupboards. If we used a full cover bib I would stick it in my cloth nappy wash which went on every other day and it would wait to be washed but rinsed in a wet bag. We also use cheeky wipes as a clean up for baby's face and hands but usually pick them up and wash their face/hands at the sink if they were extra messy. For the floor/chair/table I just cleaned up as usual with a dish rag and spray or hoovered the floor. We used a catchy thing though to catch the bulk and that could just be rinsed out and stuck back on. I plan to do all these same methods with number 2.

We have a stack of flannels we use. I bought black for stains but we ended up soaking them in Milton whilst waiting to be washed and bleaching them anyway so maybe go for white. Some people use muslins. We bought the bibado bibs that go over baby and high chair and I highly reccomend this style but they are pricey so id look for an off brand version. We had a washing up bowl in the sink filled with water and a bit of Milton and just chucked all flannels and bibs in there after use then chucked both in the washing machine at the end of the day.

Silicone bibs are great, I wipe them down after dinner and let them hang dry. Cleaning is done with antibacterial spray and a cloth. Also, weaning doesn’t have to be done with overly messy food, and they definitely don’t need to be given a spoon too early to make their own mess.

Outfit and nappy changes

Desperate for some advice, my little boy is turning 1 next week and for the last 3-4 months nappy and outfit changes have been so difficult. He hysterically cries and screams and constantly wants to roll over to get up. I’ve tried different distractions / toys and occasionally they help or sometimes they make the situation worse. It’s becoming hard to change him in public too. I keep thinking he’s going to grow out of it but it’s been a few months now and if anything it’s gotten worse 🥲

sleep/crib training 😭😭

okay wtf.. sleep training is so much harder emotionally than i ever thought. for the first 4 months of my sons life he slept in his bassinet strictly with contact naps here and there of course. at some point we switched to cosleeping because it was just easier at the time with me going back to work. please no judgement on that, i never thought i would cosleep and always looked down on it but it kept me sane when i was back working 40+ hours a week. i recently quit my job because the schedule was too inconsistent for me having a 9 month old now so we’re trying to sleep train and get him back in his crib. it is SO hard. i feel so guilty. i am not in any way doing the cry it out method or any form of that. i comfort him when he cries and i am currently sitting next to the crib after an hour and a half of trying to get him to fall asleep and he finally JUST went to sleep. i just feel so bad he was getting so worked up and crying like he has never cried before. i am really hoping it gets easier and it wont be weeks of this because i am on the verge of tears with guilt. 💔💔 my mama heart is breaking. if anyone has any suggestions or tips on sleep training that are NOT cry it out methods please let me know i could use all the tips i can get.

How do you reprimand your baby and help them understand “no” ?

FTM, I have an almost 7 month old and I can tell she is starting to test her new skills and testing my limits as well. She will deliberately do something and look at me and wait for a reaction. If she is doing something wrong or unsafe I’ll tell her “no” and to “stop” with a more serious tone of voice and she literally laughs at me😭…EVERY TIME! I don’t know how to get her to understand that when mommy is trying to help you or tell you something that is wrong you cannot just LAUGH at her IN HER FACE😭😂😂😂kinda joking but kinda serious lmao any suggestions?

Baby question

Hi guys my baby girl is only three weeks old and she’s doing great for the most part the last two days she’s been really fussy and is having a hard time passing gas. She’s not sleeping as much either . And seems to be comfort feeding I think. I don’t know what to do. I’m breast feeding so it’s hard I’ll feed her and she’ll wake up like 20 minutes later and I’ll feed her again . But I feel like im not providing enough milk because there’s hardly anytime in between feeds . I’ve tired rubbing her belly doing bike legs and changing her position. What helped you help them most

What type of bed is your toddler sleeping in?

My daughter is currently in a cot bed (with the sides down and a guard rail) but I feel she needs more space. Any suggestions for a 2.5 year old?
