Early gender reveal 👀

Went to the doctor the other day and it was when I was 13 weeks exactly the ultrasound tech asked if I wanted to know the gender and I was like yeah and in my head I was like I didn’t think we could find out this early. Turns out if it’s a boy there’s a high chance that you can see what it is early on and guess what she’s 95% sure I’m having a boy which there’s always still a chance. It was the umbilical cord and everything but when I go back for week 20, we’ll know for sure.

Work pattern

I have to return to work I can’t afford to be a stay at home mum much as that’s what I want.

I have a physical retail job. Customer facing and stock working with targets.

Do I do 2 10 hour days, and then take a 3rd day to rest and have my LO for 4 whole days a week.

Or do I do 3 shifts, something like 8, 8 and 4 or 6, 6 and 8.

With 3 days I never really get a break. I’ll still be responsible for mornings and bedtimes on my work days and then won’t get a rest day as I’d miss having full days with LO.

But if I do 2 10 hour shifts I’m worried I’ll be exhausted. It’s a long day, and then add broken sleep as my LO is 8 months and stilll waking between every 30 mins - 2 hours, so by 1 I would expect frequent wakings even if there is massive improvement.

My ADHD brain couldn't remember the name for snails

So I called them gastropods, which is technically correct. This happened one time now my son (3yo) only calls them astropods.
"Mama astropods come out when it rains. They live in shells. Shells are their home and their bones"

C section pain

Tips for pain management? I’m 6 days post section and having paracetamol and ibuprofen every 4 hours but I’m still sore and only really managing to walk to the toilet and back. They took the stitches out yesterday and it was checked and they’ve said it looks fine.

We were inpatients for quite 4 days as it was an emergency section and baby was in NICU being monitored and having IV antibiotics so have only been home 2 days.
Sorry to add I can’t have codeine/dihydrocodeine due to an allergy!

Anterior placenta, previous c section

I’m 15 weeks and have an anterior placenta. I’ve been told that monitoring of my placenta won’t really start until my 20 week scan. So I don’t know yet if it is close to my scar. But am already quite worried. My previous c section was also emergency, not sure if that also increases my chances of risks. Does anyone have any experience of having an anterior placenta and previous c section, and it being okay? TIA x

Is anyone else wildly shocked at how many pregnancies are being sent for growth scans/ inductions/ even sections based on an archaic measuring system 😵‍💫

The fundal measurement is massively outdated and nuanced. And scans can’t accurately predict weights either. Yet we’re sending women spiralling down anxiety ridden rabbit holes and unnecessarily inducing them or even resorting to surgery! My mind in blown!
Luckily all the midwives I’ve seen are very pragmatic.
