C section pain

Tips for pain management? I’m 6 days post section and having paracetamol and ibuprofen every 4 hours but I’m still sore and only really managing to walk to the toilet and back. They took the stitches out yesterday and it was checked and they’ve said it looks fine.

We were inpatients for quite 4 days as it was an emergency section and baby was in NICU being monitored and having IV antibiotics so have only been home 2 days.

Hiya. Congratulations 👶🏻
I would advise taking them every 6 hours but alternate times so you’re only going say 3 hours between each.
You can take something stronger if you’re not breastfeeding?

I was still very much in pain at 6 days. I was taking regular pain relief up til 2 weeks PP. Even now it’s not pain free but definitely much better xx

At 6 days pp, i was still having trouble getting out of bed alone. Take it as easy as possible, you were just cut seven layers deep and had a human pulled out of you. Limit yourself. I felt like i needed to go right back to doing everything myself, and it was definitely to my detriment. I went home 8 days pp because baby was in special care, but i couldn’t even take my dogs out at 8-13 days pp

You may be able to ask your gp for dihydrocodeine, I was given this when leaving hospital. It was deemed safe enough to take whilst breastfeeding, I believe they give you codeine if you aren’t😊 I was also in for 5 days after, but I had oramorph during those days, the dihydrocodeine I took it for a week and that really helped and then just went to paracetamol/ibuprofen!

Congrats, was in a similar situation I was in 5 days after my section, in hospital I was on paracetamol, ibuprofen and di-hydrocodine, released I only took paracetamol and ibuprofen the pain was still there, stopped taking them about 2/3weeks after my section, it honestly just takes time, if you feel like you need someone to talk to feel free to message me x

Hey 😊 alternate paracetamol and ibuprofen so you take one every 3 hours round the clock (you need two four hour gaps to meet the maximum dosages which I did overnight so I was asleep). I was out walking pushing the pram on day 3 with this regime. Before I nailed the routine I was in a lot of pain so it defo helped! Also keep moving, the more I sat around the more pain I was in x

I’ve had dihydrocodine after both my births one of which was an emergency section and I was breastfeeding at the time. Might be worth asking for some x

Did you get given any oramorph? That helped me a lot, and safe if breastfeeding.

100% take it easy though for as long as possible, I am 5 weeks pp and overdid it too early and now have an opened incision at one end.
