Older child copying younger

I’ve a 29 month old. Speech is so good, she sings and she communicates so well.

I’ve also a 9 month old, she does mama dada but also obviously loads of baby noises.

29mo has started to copy baby, using less and less words. Which is driving me crazy.

Is this normal???

I'd say normal! Bit different but there's a little girl at my daughters nursery school who makes baby noises amd shouts and my daughter has started copying her if she cant get her own way 🙄 so annoying but im hoping it passes!!

Is she still using her words when it matters?
I guess id be trying to distinguish between behaviour and general regression at this point

It’s very normal for older siblings to copy the younger, especially if she’s noticing the baby get attention. My two are 3y and 5y and my eldest still copies her brother if he does something that makes us laugh - she wants attention too.

I wouldn’t tell her off for the behaviour or do anything negative around it, but I would make sure that she’s getting attention, being praised and fawned over as much as the baby.

I don’t even have a second child, but my daughter started doing this at about 2.5 and still does it now, and it’s so annoying because she does it when she’s trying to distract from not wanting to do something, and then pretends she can’t understand and replies with babble baby.

Totally normal and doesn't signify any kind of regression so don't worry and try not to discourage. Just encourage when they make more effort, or if they do have cousins to influence them give them their company, but regardless it won't impact their development. They're just reading the environment and responding to test what's allowed/what works in getting their needs met. They'll learn themselves that talking gets better results

Want to give up on breastfeeding

Please give me some encouragement to keep going 😭 I love feeding my baby at breast I love bonding with him, but lately it has been a nightmare. As we are approaching week 4 he has started to have trouble. He will latch initially, then when I burp him halfway through he will not go back on my breast. (I burp him hallway through because he gets gassy.) Even with the breast literally in his mouth he is still screaming and giving hunger cues and I don’t know what to do!! I know it is probably trapped gas but even after he burps and spits up some he still does this. But he doesn’t do this when we bottle feed him. I’m torn between trying to push through or just switching to pumping 😭

Touching babies face/hands

I’m currently 10 weeks postpartum and really struggling with knowing what boundaries to have in place for my baby. Originally my rules were no one visited if they had a cold, absolutely no kissing and also no touching his face or hands. These are still what I want as my rules but people are naturally beginning to touch his face and hands without thinking. It doesn’t help that he’s recently discovered his hands so constantly wants to put them in his mouth. I know everyone has their own boundaries and there’s no right or wrong but I’m beginning to feel I’m possibly being a bit over the top? Is it unreasonable to ask this of people?

Vocabulary helping hand for toddler

My son is 2 years and 3 months old but can only say a few words like mama and dada. When he wants something he would take my hand and lead me to it. I've tried emphasising words all day like bottle, dinner, ta, pig but he has no interest in speaking. I only give him a dummy to go to sleep
I've seen a lot of these apps that claim to help improve vocabulary but don't know which one is best. Any advice would be great ☺️❤️

Night light

How do you see your baby in the night? We have a bedside light on but it feels excessive. We have a gro egg and we can't really see her with this. Any advice on what would be better?

Urghh!

My 10 month old was just stirring in his cot and my husband walked in the room after work and went near him staring at him and he woke up completely, he asked if he can take him to bed which at this time i usually do anyway, then I change nappy usually and feed and he falls asleep. But because he saw him he got hyped up and now it’s been awake for an hour and half and just gone to sleep but my husband fell asleep long before snoring away! I’m so freaking mad! It’s nearly 3am
