My child and family health nurse recommended 4 nights at Tresillian since I said I want to encourage my 5-month-old to sleep more independently (I currently rock and sing to him for basically all naps and sleeps except when he falls asleep on the boob), and I feel kinda uneasy about this since I'd be away from the comforts and freedom of home, and in what I imagine to be a quite full-on clinical environment. I was in the hospital for almost a week after giving birth, and I think I'm anticipating it to be something like that, which I didn't particularly enjoy. Is anyone able to relate their experiences of staying there?

I did tresillian at 3 months for my daughter who was having 7 hour+ wake windows and very little naps. We also spent a week in hospital after she was born in nicu. It is very clinical, but I found most of the staff very supportive. It didn’t change the outcome, or my daughter (who was classified as incredibly low sleep needs), but gave me more confidence that I wasn't doing anything wrong. Lots of support from the different types of staff if you want/need it. Blackout cot rooms are great at night, but not something we could sustain at home, and during the day she still fought naps the same way. It basically made no difference, but made me feel much better about what I was doing. It definitely doesn't hurt to try, and is a great resource for some parents. Whilst it is a very clinical setting you can sign out of the hospital to go on walks, out for lunch etc. They do have a strict daily routine though, which can feel jarring at first. I would do it again
