Help! Any doctors or nurses here? Retained placenta

I can't get through to 111 and it's bank holiday weekend so won't be able to contact my GP til tuesday.

Long story short, I'm 5 week pp and last Monday I had a huge sudden bleed and lost what I thought was a very big clot but my GP said was retained placenta. He put me on antibiotics and referred me for a scan which isn't until next week. I've just finished the course of antibiotics tonight but the last 3 days I have felt horrendous. My muscles are aching like I have the flu, it's got progressively worse and tonight I am just in so much pain, my whole body feels like it's burning. Is it possible I have an infection even after taking the course of antibiotics? Or is it more likely to be aches from breastfeeding and carrying the baby? I was a bit achey before but this feels different. I haven't got any other cold or flu symptoms. Just these muscle pains and at the end of the day, chills.

Some hospitals will still care for you in maternity triage for up to 6 weeks postpartum. You could try giving them a call? If not they could maybe refer you to someone else who could help x

111 also have an online service if you can’t get through on the phone. I had mastitis last weekend and got a call back in 10 mins and a same day appointment to be seen x

If you are feeling that bad and you know things aren't right I would suggest going to A&E and getting checked out there. Please dont wait to contact the gp on Tuesday if things feel that bad! Its better to be safe than sorry!

I hope everything works out ok x

I would get yourself straight to A&E it sounds like imthe infection hasn't cleared and has now developed into sepsis instead.

Even if it isn't, if you feel that rough you need to be seen. The GP shouldn't have just written off the clot. If you pass any large clots with your lochia you should have been told by the midwives to get straight to A&E

I hope everything clears quickly for you xxx

Rolling yet?

My LO is 16 weeks and not rolling yet. We have done a couple from front to back. But not back to front. She likes to sleep on her side and gets angry she can’t get there herself.

My oldest didn’t roll until he was a lot older but I wondered what everyone else’s January babies are doing.

What week did yours start to roll?

Small opening

I’m 8 week PP and there’s still a small bit of my wound that will not fully heal! It’s only surface level but one day it looks like it healing well then the next it’s open again. It’s only a tiny area and I’ve had antibiotics already. I’ll see the doctor about it when they open again next week but has anyone else had this and can give me any tips on helping it heal? Previous advise was let it open to air but that’s really hard while caring for a baby!

nasal congestion every night

My baby is 7 weeks old, and since the 3rd week, their nose has been stuffy in the early mornings. They're not sick, and there's nothing wrong during the day, but their nose gets stuffy around 5 am. Has anyone else experienced this?
