My baby is 4.5 months and he wakes every hour. I understand this is probably the end of a sleep cycle so completely natural but he doesn't know how to go to sleep without sucking on my boob. I've noticed he doesn't actually drink, he just uses me as a human dummy. Any advice on how to break this habit? I've tried patting/shushing/rocking instead when he wakes but he screams and wants the boob...

I’ve read that this is totally normal especially at such a young age. If you can handle it, carry on until it doesn’t happen anymore. Our babies are so precious and all these gorgeous moments are going to stop at some point 😭.
Have you tried a dummy?

I second the it’s absolutely normal and absolutely exhausting! But it will pass and they will start to link sleep cycles without you doing anything at all.
I use a dummy to give my boobs a bit of respite.
Also make sure baby is getting plenty of wake time in the day as sleep needs have dropped from four months so ideally don’t want to be aiming for too much sleep 😊
It’s hard though!

I don't try to break it. It is the easiest and most natural way to get her to sleep, if anything, I am happy it works so well 😂 My 4.5 years old was relying for my boob for both sleep and comfort for a long time and is now perfectly fine with going to sleep by herself.

As people said, it is completely normal. You're not a human dummy. Dummies were partially invented because of this. 4.5 month old is still so young. Have you tried a dummy?
