I'm devastated. I pushed myself to get to driving test ready alongside working full time with a toddler.
I failed leaving the driving test centre. It was totally my fault. I've just come out of a restructure where I was downgraded and had put all my hopes into passing and this being a win..
I'm exhausted.
For others, how long did you wait again to book another test?
I'm unlikely to get one now before baby is due so I feel completely stuck. I can't think how it would be possible for me to do it again with a new born/baby when I'll be exhausted and breastfeeding.
Maybe I need to admit defeat here.
Any words of advice or encouragement would be much appreciated! X

Since the driving test booking rules have changed, it has become easier to book tests. But it also depends on where you are booking. In my personal experience, just keep trying without putting much thought. Luck plays a lot of role. Try booking a Saturday morning slot as the traffic is less and chances of passing are high.
Don’t loose hope. Best of luck.

Did you make any other mistakes? If it was literally just a major failing coming out the test center then you obviously know how and can drive very well so it was likely nerves at the start.
It is a bit easier to book now, you could try booking a different centre if there is more availability
Well done for even trying to learn and pass a test whilst pregnant let alone with a toddler you have done amazing to get this far.
Keep practicing, especially if someone can act as an examiner for you and just do a wide search on tests and book the first available ones
You can definitely achieve this!

If it helps at all, I had to have my test exactly one month pp. I was super sleep deprived with a massive headache and it was icy on the roads, but I passed! I thought it would be harder to do it after baby came but I think it was actually better, despite the circumstances.
I do know how much it would help if you had passed though, so I'm sorry it didn't work out this time around.

Admitting defeat would be a mistake after all the effort you've put in. It took me five times to pass- I'm an excellent driver but I don't thrive under exam pressure. This isn't a reflection on you, people make silly mistakes on the roads all the time- just this one drive needs to not have any. I wanted to quit but my husband gently encouraged me to not give up on myself and I honestly don't know how I would have coped without my licence. I needed to be able to drive for the two promotions I received since passing the test and it's been an absolute lifeline being able to get out and about with my toddler. The freedom and opportunities that being able to drive gives you outweigh everything else. I'd try to rebook a few months after baby is here and keep a few lessons in between so you keep your confidence!
