🇬🇧From the UK 🇬🇧 I’m 22 weeks and I’m trying to help my overthinking brain by working out what I want to take to hospital with me. This is just things for me, baby and dad will come after! Am I missing anything, anything you have had recommended to you that isn’t on this list?
I know makeup/skincare are not necessary but it will just make me feel better if I want to spruce myself up a little!

If you’re breastfeeding and taking pain killers outside of hospital ones you should ask what’s okay for you

Something I wish I had at the hospital with my firstborn was a nightlight I could sit on the table by me and baby. I have one packed this time around!

My hospital allowed essential oils if I wanted it soninwould always take it just in case and you can always put them on a flannel or apply them topically if you are not able to diffuse them.
Don't forget a hairbrush 😉
If you would like a birthing ball I would take that too, my hospital didn't supply them if wanted though they did have a TENS machine to borrow.
I took a few disposable maternity pants but did not need them as hospital supplied pads to begin with. You may also want to take earphones in case you want to block out any other noise or if you end up staying overnight and want to watch or listen to something without disturbing others on a ward (I ended up in an emergency cesarean so was in for longer than I initially expected and was on a ward with two others so was handy to have these on me).
You may also want cotton pads for using your micellar water x

The wards are so hot I don’t think you’ll need a blanket or dressing down. I gave birth in early March and we were having to crack the windows.
I would suggest headphones or ear plugs too - people on the wards are noisy. You’ll have snorers, people on the phone (usually on loudspeaker 🙄), other babies screaming, midwives chatting to other mums in the night…
And maybe a nightie. Not sure what your birth plan is, but if you end up having a c-section, pulling up/down bottoms will be really bloody hard.
Otherwise a good list!

Get rid of the painkillers as the hospital will provide you with it when you’re there as they need to put it on your charts so they’ll need to know what and when you took it. Get rid of the panty liners as you won’t need them as you’ll be bleeding heavily.
Take some easy slip on shoes for going home as you’ll be sore.
Instead of a water bottle try taking something that keeps your water really cold such as a Stanley as the wards get so warm and your water bottle will get warm😅
You also won’t need breast pads as you don’t produce milk till day 3-5 postpartum so you won’t be leaking😊
Extra long charger is a MUST! And also a little light that’s a soft glow as the hospital ones are really bright x

You need snacks!! And I’d pack Lucozade too

I’d recommend a nightie, i brought pjs but couldn’t wear them so ended up being in the hospital gown much longer than i’d of liked.
