Is it normal not to see an embryo at 5 weeks? Should I go private in a week ?
I had an early scan at 5 weeks, and they found the sac in the correct place but couldn't see an embryo yet. They said it could simply be too early, but also mentioned other possibilities, including an early miscarriage. They've booked me for another scan in 2 weeks.
I'm struggling with the wait and considering a private scan in a week, but they've advised it may still be too early to see anything more. I had a previous chemical pregnancy, so the uncertainty is really difficult.
I’ve just been informed my hcg was 4281 yesterday and the sac was 7mm. They reassured me that it’s progressing as expected so I feel a little bit better.
Any advice or similar experiences would be greatly appreciated.

Was it an ultrasound or transvaginal? When I fell pregnant after having a miscarriage the hospital wanted me in for a scan & I can’t even remember how early I was but they couldn’t find anything normally but then found baby in a transvaginal scan
It can be hard before 6 weeks to establish what is and isnt there. Because when conception happened may be a few days out from when you think to a whole week sometimes (our bodies are weird and cool like that).
