How effaced and dilated were you at 38/39 weeks? What week did your first baby come?

Specifically for your first child? I was told today I am 80% effaced and half a cm dilated. Wondering how normal those numbers are? And how soon labor could be?

Sounds pretty normal to me! I was 70% effaced at 37 weeks and 3 cm dilated. OB told me they doubted I’d make it to my next appointment. Went into labor at 38 weeks and 4 days

You're in better shape than I was! Went in at 39+3 and was 0% and 0cm!! Couldn't even get a membrane sweep, my cervix was closed so tight. I was induced at exactly 40 weeks (diabetes) and it took 2 days for him to come.

I was at 7cm and I had her at 39 weeks 0days

That's normal! when I was 39 weeks I was 0 cm dilated and couldn’t even do my membrane sweep, but at 40 weeks on my due date I was 1 cm dilated and got a membrane sweep. My baby was born the next day.

Just wait to go to the hospital until you see the mucus plug fall out or if the contractions become unbearable. You got this!!! Everything seems normal. You will be just fine mama. Just have that hospital bag ready.

I was 38 weeks and 1 cm dilated. Went to the hospital at 2:30 am.

Good luck!!

I was 1cm dilated and 50% effaced at 38/39 weeks. Got a membrane sweep at my 40 week appointment and gave birth the next day!

I had a scheduled induction with my first at 37 weeks and when I went in and they did a cervical check, they were surprised I was already 2cm dilated as a ftm! So I ended up not even needing the balloon catheter and they just started pushing the pitocin as well. Sounds like you are super normal and right on track🤗

Did your 2nd baby come sooner than 1st?

37 weeks with 2nd baby and everyone has been saying the 2nd comes earlier & faster so I’ve been a little nervous thinking he can come any day now, every Braxton hick I think is going to turn into labor but no other signs yet! My first came at 38wks & was 11 hour labor. How was your 2nd baby compared to first?

Coworkers

I literally KNEW this was going to happen which is why I waited so long to tell my coworkers. Overheard someone saying “the second the baby comes out it’s hell. Whatever you do to prepare it’s not enough” all the unhelpful comments are annoying me so bad. We still have the rest of our third trimester to be working and being all big. The comments paired with me being more sensitive than usual is a bad combo. Any advice 😭

2nd planned section advice.

My first baby I had a planned section and it was very positive. I have another planned section for this baby. And my anxiety is horrendous, and has been, I have such a fear it will be the complete opposite experience. I’m worried my baby comes too early. And I’m just worried my waters break.

I have been told as I’ve never actively went into labour there’s a high chance it won’t happen and I won’t go early. I’ve also been told I would be treated as an emergency section if I do go early. But I have the fear it’s too late and have to give birth naturally which is my biggest fear.

My mind is playing games with me.

Has anyone had a section before and did go early? And could share with me their experiences?
