Did your 2nd baby come sooner than 1st?

37 weeks with 2nd baby and everyone has been saying the 2nd comes earlier & faster so I’ve been a little nervous thinking he can come any day now, every Braxton hick I think is going to turn into labor but no other signs yet! My first came at 38wks & was 11 hour labor. How was your 2nd baby compared to first?

Interested in the answers 🤪 I m 5 months into second pregnancy....

My second came earlier than my first. First came at 40+4 and second came at 37+1 due to PPROM.

My second was a week or two early, but I knew she would be. She was sitting so low by the end, it felt like she was just gonna fall out 🤣
I've heard that seconds come fast, but she took almost 24 hours from the time my water broke 🤪 (my body just doesn't seem to know what to do with labor though, with both my kids labor slowed almost to a stop pretty soon after my water broke and I needed pitocin to get things moving again both times)

Avatar

For me it was exactly the same. Both were 37 + 6. A friend had her second a week later then her first 🤷🏻‍♀️

5 days later than my first but still both early babies. Definitely faster tho I pretty much woke up in labour realised it was labour when I was going to my bed that night and got to the hospital at 5 cm dialated. I don't remember how long I was in the hospital before I had him but 2 minutes pushing time (compared to 15 with my first)

1st baby was 3 days labor, induced, and was born at 40 weeks 2 days.
2nd was 4 hours active labor in hospital, labor started the night before, and born at 38 weeks 6 days.

Avatar

My first was an induction at 39 weeks, my second came naturally at 37w6d 🙂

Avatar

First came naturally at 39 I was supposed to be induced but went in to the hospital for my induction already in labor. 2nd came at 36 weeks on the dot. If I have a third I hope the trend of coming earlier and earlier does not stick.

Avatar

First was born in 18 hours at 39 weeks, second 2 hours at 38 weeks…with an active labour of 20 mins…lol

Avatar

Both 1st and 2nd were within 3 days of their due date.

My first baby (son) came at 38+3 and my second baby (daughter) came at 37 weeks exactly. I went into spontaneous labour with both of them and they are both IVF babies

Avatar

same date: 37 weeks 5 days
I was medically induced for the first and the second jsut came and labor was faster

Hopefully mine comes a lil earlier than the first cause she was about 38 + 5 and honestly she didn’t feel this heavy or active. Baby boy is so low and never stops moving. I’m currently 32 weeks, hopefully he comes around 37+6 to like 38 ish cause I’m so tired of this lol

Avatar

My first came at 41+2 and I’m still currently pregnant waiting for my second to arrive at 40+4 😂

Avatar

Ohh I’ve been hearing the same thing! I’m 34 weeks and my first was a 39 week induction. This time I spent my pregnancy chasing and carrying a 0-1 year old, I feel like that’s what would make the second come sooner!

Just hoping to make it to 37 weeks ❤️

Coworkers

I literally KNEW this was going to happen which is why I waited so long to tell my coworkers. Overheard someone saying “the second the baby comes out it’s hell. Whatever you do to prepare it’s not enough” all the unhelpful comments are annoying me so bad. We still have the rest of our third trimester to be working and being all big. The comments paired with me being more sensitive than usual is a bad combo. Any advice 😭

How effaced and dilated were you at 38/39 weeks? What week did your first baby come?

Specifically for your first child? I was told today I am 80% effaced and half a cm dilated. Wondering how normal those numbers are? And how soon labor could be?

2nd planned section advice.

My first baby I had a planned section and it was very positive. I have another planned section for this baby. And my anxiety is horrendous, and has been, I have such a fear it will be the complete opposite experience. I’m worried my baby comes too early. And I’m just worried my waters break.

I have been told as I’ve never actively went into labour there’s a high chance it won’t happen and I won’t go early. I’ve also been told I would be treated as an emergency section if I do go early. But I have the fear it’s too late and have to give birth naturally which is my biggest fear.

My mind is playing games with me.

Has anyone had a section before and did go early? And could share with me their experiences?
