Help please 🫠

So I got diagnosed with high blood pressure last week Thursday. I’ve been getting my blood pressure measured every few days and hospital claim it has stabilised. I have received a phone call from a doctor today saying that even though the blood pressure stabilised they want to induce me on my due date which is in 11 days and I would be 40 weeks.

The doctor was under the impression that this has been mentioned to me and I’ve received leaflets and I was clueless. Not happy about how this was a phone call conversation when I was at hospital yesterday and someone could’ve spoken to me about it.

An induction is something I really wanted to avoid due to the horror stories I’ve heard. And the idea of an emergency c section petrifies me as well.

This is my first baby so I know I have a higher chance of the induction failing or the need for an emergency c section.

I guess the help I’m asking for is do you reckon I could request a planned c section instead? Or is it too late? Should I try the induction? Has anyone got induction stories? What is the recovery after a c section like?

So is your blood pressure now stable ? And everything’s well with the baby?
If no decline x

I really don’t want to be a Debbie downer but this is exactly what happened to me with my first (except I only had one reading where my BP started climbing rather than a trend with extra checks etc so that does slightly change things) - I ended up having the pessary, gel, waters broken, drip then an emergency c-section so was in hospital for a week before my son arrived and half a week after his arrival. Personally I wouldn’t recommend, if I could choose again I would decline an induction as long as me and baby remained safe

However on a positive note, my c-section recovery was fine and it was actually a lot better experience compared to what I thought a c-section would feel like

I would advise just to take some time to sit on it and choose whatever feels right as I felt rushed into a decision as they wanted to induce me the same day. I don’t believe it would be too late for you to opt for an elective if this is what you want, I’m under the impression this can requested at any time

They can monitor you after 40 weeks if blood pressure or anything changes that’s understandable, but I’m a FTM and my blood pressures high in hospital and doctors, I have a machine at home and it’s always fine. And as I’m having a home birth my blood pressure is always fine when my midwife has visited. Always what’s best for the baby yes, but also your the person giving birth, your rights matter. If everything is stable, no high BP no issues on scans and no protein in urine, it could of just been your under the weather, the heat etc, on that day x

I've had 2 Inductions (both due to lateness) and both ended in vaginal delivery (although I did have to have forceps with my first). I do know people who have had emergency c sections with Inductions, but i would say i know more who had vaginal deliveries and likewise I know lots of people who did not have Inductions, but still ended in emergency c sections. It looks like I'm about to have a third induction and the main thing I'm not looking forward to is how long the process seems to take (5 days with my first and 4 with my second).

C-section fold over

I’ve found the holy grail. I’ve been dry brushing my skin and I’ve noticed it makes a crazy difference with my food over which I’ve had a terrible time trying to get rid of even with losing weight. If anyone is struggling with the same thing I would suggest it !!

Baby’s movments at 36 weeks

Hi Mums!🤰✨🩷

I'm 36 weeks pregnant and when my baby moves in my belly, I don't get big horse kicks like most other mothers do. I get very light movement, like if it's like turning on its side or something, they are soft but nothing to make me jump. Is that normal? Should I be worried for it to not be feeling stronger movement by now?

Baby boy is here 🩵

After being so nervous for an ECV, my boy decided he couldn't wait anyway and arrived on 25th May (the hottest day of the year 🥵) via emergency c-section. He's a tiny 6lb 7 ounces and arrived 12 days early 😅

My eldest is 2 in July and already the best big brother 😍🥹

Mucus Plug 24 weeks

I think my mucus plug has been coming away today and yesterday. Called midwife who said based on the description it likely is that and not to worry unless it have labour symptoms or bleeding. Has anyone else been in this position? It has got me a little worried to say the least.
