Hi all, I’m having my 4th baby and I have been taking antidepressants since May 2025. I wondered if there are any mothers here who took antidepressants in previous pregnancies. I also take amitriptyline for migraines. I’m just worried about the after effects it will have once baby is born. My last pregnancy, I was on sertraline for my anxiety and when my son was born, he had tremors. How were your births and postnatal?

Oh wow. I’m on sertraline. How long did the tremors last?

What antidepressant are you on? I was on Lexapro my whole second pregnancy. No complications, she was born perfectly healthy. ❤️ I don't have any experience with migraine medication though

I am on Citalopram (40mg) and have been since February 2020. I had my little boy August last year, and my pregnancy, birth and postnatal have been fine I’ve not felt an impact from the antidepressants thankfully, and little boy has been fine too! The only difference was I had to be consultant led due to risk of low birth weight from the medication. The dr reassured me about taking it during pregnancy by explaining it would be worse for the baby for me to come off the meds and have a relapse in my mental health than it is to continue with them and keep myself mentally well! 🥰

I took antidepressants during pregnancy. I had severe hyperemesis making me very depressed. My baby was born with a slow heartbeat and had to go in the nicu. They could tell me for certain if it was the antidepressants or the epidural but I won’t take that chance again. Personally next pregnancy no antidepressants for me. If you need it though, you need it though but for me after my experience it’s not worth it.
