My partner has hay fever and asked me to marinate some chops he’d bought. I’ve been trying to stop automatically taking on extra household tasks because I already feel like I do a lot around the house, so I replied, “Why don’t you try doing it so you can learn?” Looking back, I can see that may have sounded sarcastic or patronizing. He got upset, and later when I called and offered to do it anyway, he said I was a “soulless bitch” who didn’t care about him. When I told him that was hurtful, he said I was playing the victim. He also called me “useless” and said he’d rather be alone. I’m trying to work out whether we both handled this badly, or whether his reaction crossed a line. What do others think?

I’m confused to what “Hay Fever” has to do with it ?

This is a MASSIVE over reaction by him, tell him to take some antihistamines and marinate his own steak. If you are so 'useless' go on strike, don't make him food, do his washing or anything, just do it for you and the kid(s).
