I was told it isn't mandatory but my son seems like he's ready for it.
But I'm not sure I'm ready to expose him to the "real world" yet.

Before it became available to all, I sent my two kids that were eligible for TK to TK. It really helped them get ready for Kindergarten. I know some parents who did not send their kids to public TK, but continued to send them to their private preschool. If you aren’t going to send your child to TK or preschool, there is a lot of academic content they should know before starting Kindergarten, such as identifying the alphabet (capital and lower case letters) and numbers 1-10. With my oldest, we didn’t know any better and he was really frustrated and stressed in Kindergarten because he felt behind his peers. Some of his friends were reading already and he was still learning the alphabet.
