The most embarrassing accent/language mistake you made?

While I was in Belfast I nipped into TK maxx (not somewhere I ever shop) to get an emergency rain jacket, the girl on the till asked me if I had a charging cord which I thought was really strange surely she would bring her charger to work, I said no I don’t sorry, she said oh would you like to get one then,I said no I’ve got one in the hotel room I just don’t carry it around with me,it wasn’t until she had looked at me funnily and I heard another cashier asking someone “do you have a treasure card” I realised she was talking about their membership card 🤣🤣😭😭😭

A few years ago in Detroit airport the security kept screaming “SHOES O——“ and wasn’t pronouncing the last letter so I had no idea whether she was saying on or off. I politely told her multiple times I wasn’t sure if she was saying shoes on or off and she just kept screaming “SHOES O——“ at me with no intention of trying to help me understand so I had to say “shoes yes or shoes no?” like she was a toddler and she said no, so I took them off, went through the scanner. Then she shouted at me for taking them off anyway🙃

At the time I felt embarrassed that I couldn’t understand her and had to ask so many times, but now I just think she was being difficult!!!

Not embarrassing but my oh had trouble ordering a bottle of water in a chick fillet in the US as they couldn’t understand him until one of the customers came to his rescue.

And everything is 'wee' in Northern Ireland. I'm sure the cashier said 'wee charger cord' 😂 Ive lived here for 5 years and I still struggle with the Northern Irish accent!!

Not attending my friends divorce party, as a married woman.

I love my friend .. but I also love my marriage and don’t want to spend a night screaming how men are trash and how we don’t need them.

Also my friend is very fiery and problematic I believe was the cause of the break up.

I’m also Christian and don’t want any anti marriage energy around me.

Thoughts? Am I bad for not going. I’m always there as a shoulder to cry on but I do not wish to celebrate the divorce.

Another baby or wait for stability/help?

I am 33. Have a toddler.
Over the last couple of months I have had the desire for another baby.
However, the situation is not great as husband works abroad.
I am already having a hard time managing as it is (I work as well).

Please put some sense into me. I think part of the desire is the feeling of running out of time.

2 of my friends think I should go ahead anyway.

Do you care for your kids by yourself?

Do you have more then two kids you care for with no help other then your husband? I'm really feeling alone. It genuinely sucks seeing how many people have family support and all I have is my husband and he drives trucks so that means he's gone most the week and I'm by myself 😔

Hey

Hey everyone! My name is Hajir. I just found out at home I’m pregnant with my first. I don’t work so I don’t see many people. I have however been job searching for the last few months. I’m nervous about this baby! I have yet to see any doctors but have appointments booked. I expect the due date to be end of Feb (I’m hoping it would fall on leap year haha). Looking to meet supportive friends.
