Today I am officially 6 weeks postpartum. I had a c section so it’s definitely been a long road. Anyone who’s had c sections before how do I go about having my first bath? My gp checkup isn’t for another 2 weeks but I’m desperate to have a bath and don’t want to wait if I don’t have to. Any advice?

I had my birth past post C-section last week (almost 8 weeks now) and it was incredible! I just made sure that my scar was fully closed before hand and didn't have any worrying signs of infection - redness/extra swelling/heat etc. Otherwise I just had a bath like normal :) After the bath I rinsed with fresh water and made sure to pat dry just like I would after a shower. Enjoy it 🥰

Huh? Once my scar was healed and I felt comfortable enough, I had a bath. It was at around 3 weeks 🤔 didn't know you need to wait for your check up.

I was told we have to wait 8 weeks now as guidelines have moved away from 6 weeks.
With my first I was told not to put anything in the water like bubble bath etc and just have a bath like you normally would

I had a mummy MOT and she told me not to submerge the scar until the incision is completely closed and there’s no scabbing at all. At 9 weeks pp I still have some scab so I haven’t. You also shouldn’t start scar massage until this point either - don’t blindly do it at 6 weeks as everyone and their body is different.
What I will say is the GP was useless at 6 weeks he told me I could swim (I had scabbing then too) the mummy MOT lady was horrified by this advice x

Oh wow, why did you wait so long to have a bath? As soon as my wound was closed after 8 days I had a short bath and by 2 weeks was having normal length soaks again. Get in, enjoy it and stop waiting haha xx

Also I will just add that a friend of mine is a senior midwife and midwifery lecturer in a university and said you don't need to wait lol xx
