What is a ‘good’ salary nowadays? (Outside London).

I’m in the East Midlands. I work full time (37.5 hours per week). I’ve recently had a pay review to move my annual salary up to £42,100. I was pretty happy (I’m 27!) but most people I’ve spoken to think it’s not a very good salary in this day and age.

Personally I think that’s a great salary, especially at 27, but it depends on your personal financial commitments too (ie, rent, mortgage, bills etc) and whether you’re comfortable month to month or just scraping by. I’d be happy with that though! Congrats on the pay rise 🙂🙌🏻

That’s a really good salary for 27! I’d be on minimum wage if I was employed so I’m self employed (although I’m not on much more than minimum wage anyway lol). My partners just turned 26 and he’s on £60k a year and that’s amazing for his age because I’m pretty sure most people in the uk don’t even earn that much in their 40s. Yet we barely get by each month and we don’t even live a fancy lifestyle, we only have one child and we don’t do much.. it’s crazy how expensive it is to just exist, I genuinely don’t know how people on minimum wage jobs get by??

Don’t listen to other people! That’s a great salary at the age of 27 - you’re doing great for yourself. Of course it depends on the lifestyle you live and your outgoings but it’s pretty good.

Husband wants me out of the house once a day for an hour!

As a SAHM our child is so attached to me, not a big deal.. other than when I leave. Like Monday morning I had a dentist appointment and she had a full on meltdown as I was getting ready, husband said she was like that for 30 mins after I left! That’s crazy to me. I love her but I don’t want her getting upset every time I leave her, especially when her dad is with her!! So I’m starting a gym membership soon and need a gym buddy, anyone need a newbie gym buddy?😅

Is it normal?

Is it normal for the majority of your friends to just disappear when you're pregnant/had a baby?

During my pregnancy I couldn't drink (obviously) or do much due to really intense HG which landed me in hospital on a drip 4 times during it.
My best friend has 2 kids and she's welcomed me to motherhood with open arms and I'm so grateful for her but she has her own life and 2 babies of her own. I see her every now and then and I speak to her daily but I need more mum friends 🥺😭

Is there any mums around mid 20's-mid 30's in Leeds or West yorkshire?

My little girl is 4 weeks old and I want to meet other mums who'd love to go for coffees, play groups, walks to clear the head ect

I just feel stuck and kind of lonely.

My boyfriend is incredible, but he's gone back to work and he works 12 hours a day, sometimes 6 days a week so seeing him during the day or getting a day together isn't often anymore

Sorry for the rant, just didn't realise growing and raising a tiny human meant I'd lose 90% of my closest friends 🥺

Do you feel guilty wishing time away?

My kids are playing soccer on the trampoline after gardening, playing in the sprinkler, and having popsicles. They’re having the time of their life, but I just wish it was fall and they were at the point in their life that they can listen to one thing I ask them to do in a day. I know I’ll miss it one day but I’m hot and mentally just not with it

I'm so glad I found this group! I have always been shy/reserved but being a SAHM for 14 years had lead me to be even more socially awkward because my whole life revolves around my kids and their dad🫠. So not much to talk about. Recently went through a separation and working things out and during this time I realized how closed off I have been and how difficult it is for me to find meaningful conversations! I'm hoping its just the depression I've been dealing with but really is there away to push past the awkwardness? I'm pretty tired of being the quiet one in the group 😏
