Mastitis

So I have mastitis, I went to the doctor today and she gave me an antibiotic and recommended sunflower lecithin. I picked up both. I'm the mean time i still need to pump. I have a hand pump and a wearable. The wearable was giving me an indent on my areola for like 15 mins after I took it off. Does anyone know anything I can do to help with the pain? While the meds kick in?

Just keep nursing / pumping and apply a cold / warm compress, I had mastitis last week, I rang the doctors and they prescribed antibiotics but 48 hours later they hadn't come into the pharmacy and it had cleared up.

My MIL got me to try an only wives tale and it worked well for me
Take a leaf of cabbage, scrunch it up and brake it into a few pieces, put them over where the lump is (even better if your feeding bra can hold it) and leave it there

I also massaged the breast where the lump was and caught any milk that came out on a muslin

Sleep in the heat

How are we all getting our babies to sleep at night in this this heat? 2 disturbed nights so far and despite settling to bed earlier fine my baby woke around 30mins ago and still isn’t able to get back to sleep. He’s usually a really good sleeper and I fear we may never see a night of sleep again😢 I don’t really know what to do tonight with him. Honestly had enough of this stupidly hot weather and longing for some cold days and rain!

Fussy hour

Does anyone else’s baby seem to be really fussy between 8pm and 11pm? They only want to be held and the moment you put them down they scream the house down. Feed them, change them, play music/sing to them…none of it works to soothe them and get them to sleep

Been using white noise sound machine wrong

With both my kids, I always put the sound machine in their cots, and probably louder than I should have tbh. They've always been great sleepers, and my 2 year old still has it on now, although it's on the other side of the bedroom now.

I've just read that incorrect use, e.g. using within 2 meters of sleeping children, using continuously overnight, and using louder than 50 decimals can cause long-term hearing and/or developmental issues. Ive definitely done this all their lives and they're 2 years old and 6 months old. Obviously now I'm going to change how I use it, but has anyone else done this and not had any issues later on?

Introducing bottle

Hey everyone, I've starting expressing breastmilk today to my partner can start doing the night feeds with a bottle from next week. My little boy is 5 weeks old, has anyone got any tips for introducing a bottle, or best brands for combi feeding.

I'm really worried about him not being able to go back to the boob. I absolutely love breastfeeding and don't want to stop but the sleep deprivation is really starting to affect me so think having a couple of nights a week where I can sleep through would really help me.

Nappy changes

We use atleast 15 nappies a day some days a few more I feel like I am buying them constantly lol. How is it for you?

I also found that Morrisons nutmeg brand can handle any blowout small or huge lol. Not been satisfied with Pampers or aldi’s brand this time.
