I have just read an article that says there is strong indication that depo injection can cause brain tumours.
It's also believed pill can affect bone density and there are possible links to cancer.
I took the pill for about ten years, maybe a bit less. I stopped in the end as I wasn't seeing my partner a lot due to work etc so I felt like it wasn't worth taking. I haven't been on any contraception now since about 2020 but these stats are making me feel worried. Ten years is a long time and many women will have had the injection or taken the pill for 20+ years!
There are of course risks with any medications but this just feels unfair that millions of women will have been taking these without being fully aware of the risks.

I knew before I took the pill it could cause cancer but the percentage chance was low and it also helps prevents other cancers from happening. I didnt want to fall pregnant so the risk of pregnancy out weighed the risks massively for me.
I knew at 19 (im on my 30s) the depo shot wasnt good for you especially long term and the nurse went yeah and more. Not sure what she meant by more at the time but assumed they knew it had a lot more risks then said during the discussion as we went through every single option. Their risks. Possitive and negatives before I picked

Yes, all this is true.
It is also infuriating the lack of knowledge and refusal to treat menopausal and premenopausal women when the hormonal doses are lower than what women receive on a contraceptive pill.
