I keep seeing many articles atm for cases of kids/babies being left in cars. I am finding it confusing to take in because I know it can easily be done and that the parents are likely devastated but also how come so many cases in such a short space of time. The comments on every article just makes me angry at the reporting style and sigh that society is so cut and dry.

No way can you forget your baby in the car. I don’t understand it. My baby is the first thing I think about when I get out the car & surely once you get inside you think oh where’s the baby? Crazy how you just “forget”

I live in FL/us and I feel like it’s pretty common, sadly. Maybe how hot it is normally here. But, Kids and animals regularly on the news die or near it being left in vehicles.
I’ve never understood it either, like what has to be happening for you to forget the life you’re responsible for. Like how do you not realize oh I’m missing something within minutes.
Even more sad, because of how often it happens, My 2023 car actually has a function that flashes a message saying “check rear seat” when you shut it off, to attempt to remind you to not forgot your kid 🥹 I always thought it was a crazy function. But I guess maybe not

I don’t know how I wouldn’t notice my 2 toddlers missing from the house. They are constant noise and a whirlwind in the house.
The two kids (4 and 2) one is a bit suss, even the police have said the mother changed her story but the Paris one sounds just tragic and like misadventure. Mum asleep with baby, dad in the shed working, kid meant to be napping but breaks out and goes to play in the car and discovers the child lock.
