What would you do if your toddler (2.8) was having a huge tantrum and kicking and screaming over getting their nappy changed and you had already tried the gentle approach? I spent ages before being calm and in the end I had to just put it on him regardless of crying and hold him down a little. Am I in the wrong for this because according to my mum, this is not ok 😬😂 and if not, I would love to know what the right thing to do is here….

Are you in the wrong for pinning down a screaming child so you can get their nappy on? No imo, how else are you going to do it? I think you tried the calm approach, it didn't work so you wrestled him down. We've all done it surely? I'm sure in the past I've used all 4 of my limbs to keep my son still and changed his nappy 🤣

You are not in the wrong. Sometimes all you got to do is get that nappy on.

Wtf else was she expecting you to do, just give up and let him go without one?

I’ve had to pin my son down countless times to change him but at your little ones age would potty training be an option? My little boys 20m and I’m thinking about starting soon because changing him is just so stressful for the both of us x

What the hell else are you supposed to do? 😅

I don't change my kid that age nappy if he doesn't cooperate. If I do he just take it off so it's useless.
Usually I release the pressure and depending on what's happening I give him a book or something small to eat. Once he is calmed down I can change his nappy without any other issues

Distraction! Our son does this but we just pop the wiggles on our phone and prop it next to his head and he is grand.

Literally what were you supposed to do? It’s not like you choked out or beat your kid, you just had to do what was necessary to prevent them from peeing and pooping around the house. So definitely not in the wrong.

No because if you left him in the nappy it would be much worse.. you sometimes have to do these things with toddlers. I have to pin mine down to brush his teeth twice a day but if I didn’t he’d have rotten teeth.
Sometimes it’s necessary.
