VBAC or Scheduled Csection

I had a very traumatic first birth with my first born, 1 year and 3 months ago. I was in labour for more than 24 hours, ended up having to have an emergency C-section as baby had passed meconium during labour and he was also a 4.400kg baby. We ended up having to stay in hospital for 6 days and both on antibiotics.

With that being said I’m currently 34 weeks pregnant and baby is already weighing 2.392kg. I will be having another scan on the 24th to see how much baby is weighing and will then be discussing options in best interest of baby.
I really wanted to try a VBAC but I do not want to risk having to stay in hospital for that long away from my first born. Feeling so unsure whether to still allow my body to go into natural labour or to just schedule a csection to avoid another emergency csection and distress on the baby???

Your first birth has lots of similarities to mine. My VBAC was very long but only 2 nights in hospital ☺️

I'm so sorry for your first experience, with the first baby this large were you advised at all whether to plan a c section as an option at the start? I think this is a very personal choice, I did some digging into stats as I am torn between natural and c section for my first baby. I know for example that 20% of all natural births end in emergency c section, even when no health risks and average baby size. I know there are some risks of c section for future pregnancies, and for baby, but in absolute value in medical terms they are negligible (most around 0.1% or less), so for me they were not worth overthinking about. I try to compare the risks for various medical scenarios with the % risk of a car hitting me when I go outside, or a plane crashing. That helps me put things in perspective / put my mind at ease because I am already used to taking the risk of going outside the house and crossing a street. Hope this helps!
