My daughter is a preemie born at 36 weeks, from the day she was born I was breastfeeding and pumping in hospital for her, she was only taking quite tiny amounts, at least 20-30 ML each feed, she was jaundice for the first week which affected her eating. Since taking her home she’s been a lot better and no more jaundice rebounds, I also made the decision for my own reasons to switch had to formula feeding only, she is now 1 month and comfortably takes 2oz feeds every time, I’ve found if I’ve tried to push her to take 3oz she will through it straight back up or seen in discomfort so 2oz seems to be comfortable for her, she’s sometimes mixed with her feeding and can take just a bit more or a bit less and be happy. I’m just feeling quite worried as I see other mums babies at that age are taking 4,5,6 oz. My HV reassures me it’s because she’s a preemie and will catch up in her own time, can any other mums relate and am I just overthinking it too much? She wakes every 2-3 hours like clockwork to feed but again only comfortably takes 2oz.
