How do you know when it’s time to start potty/toilet training?

My little boy is 22 months and understands the meaning of the potty now. He’s had a couple of wees on there but nothing more than that. He’s started to tell us when he’s having a poo but doesn’t tell us when he needs a wee.

Is this a sign to start? I don’t want to force it upon him. I was going to get a seat for the toilet with the ladder also but will this confuse him going from potty to toilet? I only wanted to put him on the potty for convenience when we’re out and about with the carry potty incase we aren’t near a toilet.

Any advice is perfect x

My little boy is the same age and I knew when he was ready as he had a few dry nappies during the day and would take himself to the bathroom when he needed the toilet. Now I have a potty in the lounge he will constantly sit on it to do a pee but no luck with poos he will do them on the floor. I also let him walk around naked during the day and just keep an eye on where he goes. Not really advice but this is how I knew my little one was ready x

My girl would follow me to the toilet and while I’m going to the toilet she would say wee wee or poo poo, but doesn’t tell me when she done a poo or wee, so I was really concerned how hard it would be but as soon as she kind of knew what they meant and associated the toilet with that I started bringing her potty out and at every nappy change/bath time etc, I ask her to sit on it and ask her if she needs to do a wee wee.

So far she’s done 2 wees on her potty! (I only started a couple days ago) so that’s what I’m going with!

Im going to also get pull up nappies, so I can just pull them down and ask if she needs to wee, instead of a full change each time x

Its never too early to train them, if they are giving signals, go for it.
With boys, if you leave it too late it can be more difficult.
Use a fold away potty, can do jungle wees when out and about.
Im a nanny of 3 boys.
We spent 1 week indoors with no bottoms on, putting them on the potty every 20 mins, and use stickers or something as insentive.
Summer is perfect time to do it.

Would you let your baby stay with their in-laws if they had no reliable way to be contacted?

My in-laws have kindly offered to provide childcare for our baby when I return to work next year, however they are very old fashioned and I have concerns over safety.

They don’t have mobile phones, they don’t have a car or drive, they do have a landline phone but it’s quite old and unreliable. For example when we need to contact them we often have to email them and wait until the end of the day when they check their inbox to get a reply, sometimes this takes days.

My husband agrees it’s not ideal, but when it has been raised as a concern it’s met with ‘it’s worked for us so far’. I think they are very intimidated/scared of technology. We have been trying to coach them to use a mobile but they seem overwhelmed by it.

My concern is that on the days they have our child they won’t be able to contact us and/or take them somewhere if needed. Would you let your child stay as it currently stands?

Cheating husband

I think my husbands cheating on me, how do I catch him out? He used to want sex all the time hasn’t asked for it in weeks, maybe once or twice. He comes home showers eats and goes upstairs while I’m downstairs. Maybe he’s on his phone talking to someone, I can see big changes in his behaviour. What do I do to catch him out as I can’t straight up ask him without evidence but have a gut feeling as he’s done this before.

Having a 2nd child while 1st one has medical issues/delays.

Hey all. I have a 10 month old. I always wanted 2 kids and I’m trying to decide if we should start trying again soon. But my son has epilepsy and some pretty serious developmental delays coming up. He still can’t sit. Isn’t crawling. He may never walk, (or it could take 3-5 years). He will mostly be nonverbal. Chance he won’t be able to bathe himself, feed himself etc.

So does anyone else have children with high needs? Is it totally stupid to have another? Would I be putting us all in a worse position? Will the regret of not having another eat me alive? Would the mom guilt of having another eat me alive?

I am his full time caregiver now so I’m home full time. It was a totally random and insanely rare diagnosis (.0001%) so my 2nd child wouldn’t have it.

It feels like an impossible decision and I’m not even sure what needs to be considered in order to have another. I just don’t wanna wait too long cause im already 32 and it took us 5 years to conceive my son.

Any help appreciated.

Baby is calmer with my husband 😩

My 6 week old baby is calmer with my husband and I’m not ok 😩. She’s always crying and super fussy with me unless she’s eating or going to sleep, but my husband calms her down super fast when she’s fussy and she’s just overall calmer with him. Am I doing something wrong? It’s making me super sad ☹️

I’m exhausted

So my husband told me tonight that I’ve changed and that he no longer feels desired by me because I don’t make comments towards him the way I used to and I don’t respond the same when he makes comments towards me and that makes me feel like a shitty fucking wife.

Because I do desire him and what he doesn’t seem to understand is that I’m all fucking touched out.

I had to watch my body change over 8 months. I stretched, I bled, I threw up. I had to stop doing things I loved, I was sick and exhausted all the time. Then I was drugged and had seven layers of flesh, muscle, nerves and organs cut open to have our son. Then I was stitched closed seven different times. I hurt, I couldn’t move like normal, I was exhausted and felt gross.

Lucas loves to be held. And I love to hold him. But fuck recently it feels like I’m doing the most. Which is fine, I’m his mom, but I can only be in so many places and pulled in so many directions at one time.

I get peed on. I get pooped on. I get spit up on and slept on and my hair pulled all while trying to hold and sooth and change my clothes and shower and be put together when I want to be anything but.

I keep track of where we’re going, what we’re doing, when the baby eats or sleeps, when his bottles get washed or the laundry was done or the snakes were fed. Even when my husband does have him, I get asked questions. Where’s this? Where’s that? Did you move this thing? And it’s always in the same spot if he just took the two seconds to look. I can never seem to have five minutes to myself.

I can make a bottle, hold the baby, let out the dog, and play a card game without even blinking. I can shower and rock his swing, and wash my hair all while my mind is blank.

It’s gotten to the point where I am hearing cries that aren’t there.

I cried for the first time since I had Lucas tonight. And it’s not his fault, that will never be something he understands. But sometimes I can’t tell when he’s joking versus when he’s serious and sometimes I just want to be held and told that shit is going to be okay and things will start to feel somewhat normal again.

I’m not resentful. At all. He’s great and when I was in the hospital and even just getting home, he was amazing. But my feelings were hurt. I feel like I’m not listened to, I’m not seen, and I’m just fucking exhausted.

Are any fellow February 2026 moms about ready to introduce purées to their babies and store bought or DIY

My 5 month old is showing all the signs of solid readiness. Her big brother’s pediatrician gave us the go ahead for purées at his 4 month appt. A day or two later we gave him his first puree and he did well and we slowly added it to his daily routine (still getting as many bottles at first). We moved and are in the process of getting a new pediatrician so she’s late for her 4 month check up but my hubby says “let’s go ahead and start”. I ofc have qualms even though she can almost fully sit on her own. She reaches for our food. Grabs toys and puts them in her mouth and makes sucking noises. I think she’s ready but should I wait until I get her a new pediatrician just in case? Have any of you started? I made all my purées from scratch and don’t really trust any brand except little spoon. But I haven’t even tried little spoon. Just seen it used when I worked in childcare and liked the organic ingredients.”
