Attaching to boob

Hi mamas,

My son was born 12 days ago, and we’ve been having trouble with breastfeeding from the start because he hasn’t been able to latch properly.

Two days ago, we had his tongue tie snipped, hoping that would solve the problem. Straight afterwards, he latched really well and fed for about 30 minutes, which gave me so much hope. But since we’ve been home, he hasn’t latched once.

I know he can do it now, but whenever I try to breastfeed, he cries, arches his back, or pushes his head away. It’s becoming really upsetting, and I just want to be able to feed my baby without relying on a bottle.

I will be going to breastfeeding support groups and I also have a few names for some specialists so I will have to get some professional help involved.

Has anyone else experienced this after a tongue tie release? If so, did anything help? I’d really appreciate any advice or reassurance. ❤️

Hi, with my first she couldnt do it. No tongue tie just struggled to latch or learn how to do it properly. Eventually I tried a nipple shield and she would latch on that as it made it more like a bottle teat. That is how I managed to breastfeed from about 2 months.

Just hope you know it is not you, it is 100% the baby. It is a hard skill to learn and the bottle is easier. Some babies just take a bit longer x

Newborn wake windows

My baby boy is 8 weeks old and only seems to have a proper wake window between 6pm- 8pm (ish). He wakes up other times however briefly for 15mins or so. How often and what time of day does your newborn wake and be more alert?

What is my almost 2 year old saying?

He keeps saying this and I am abit stumped on what he’s trying to tell me. It sounds like he’s saying “fucking nice” or “fucking noise” 😂 is he actually swearing or saying something else?!?

Returning to work

My little boy is 8.5 months old and I’m already worried and dreading my return to work in October and leaving him. He starts nursery in September and I hate the thought of this too!

I have a 3 year old and remember feeling similar then too, but she was 14 months when she started nursery.

Anyone else in the same boat?

Night feeds

Hey mums!
My almost 6 month old has around 900ml during the day and goes to bed at 8:30 (wakes at 8) but still will have a bottle at 11pm, 1am and 5am but won’t always finish it (will have 60-100 each).
Is anyone else experiencing this? I’ve tried increasing calories in day but it makes no difference. Hope I’m not alone 😅

Anyone else’s 9-week-old seem to hate naps? 😩

I know all about wake windows and sleepy cues, but that’s not really my problem. My daughter just doesn’t seem to want to nap.

I’ll try cuddling, rocking, shushing, contact naps, etc., but the only thing that eventually gets her to sleep is breastfeeding. It makes me worry I’m offering the breast too often just because nothing else works.

Did anyone else have a baby who fought naps like this? Did you just keep trying to resettle them, or accept that they were awake? At what point did you stop trying and just move on with your day?

I’d love to hear what actually worked for you, because I feel like I’m spending hours trying to get her to sleep.
