At my hospital I am given a time to call and then they tell me if they have a bed or not. If not they give me a new time to call back and check amd the process continues until they have space.
I've seen other people say the hospital calls them. Not entirely sure if they do a similar process of calling every so many hours for that.
I think either way makes sense. My hospital it frees up staff for other tasks, the other way there's potentially less wasted time on the phone because they can just call when they are ready.
The things I think about since they told me to call back at 9. Lol

At the hospital I was it they told me to call, but if they had a bed free early or at a different hospital they would call me. I actually got a call from a hospital closer to my home that I rejected because I didn't want to give birth in that hospital. Really glad I did because I ended up going into labour naturally that evening and she was born 6 hours later.

I was called by my hospital on the morning of my induction date today there wasn't any bed available, but they would call back later. They called back a few hours later to say I could go in at 5pm.

I was given an induction date and got told the hospital will call me before midday. If I hadn’t heard anything by then, to give them a call

Just told to go in before midnight by my doctor's office
