My 16 month old is honestly driving me absolutely up the wall...
She doesnt listen to be which causes me to raise my voice.
Little context she is a little madam we have already introduced the naughty corner so for any unacceptabke behaviour like hitting or biting she gets put there for a minute will then get to her level and explain we need to use kind hand ect
But she seems to be grabbing everything she knows she isnt aloud even if its up high she will find a way to get to it I redirect her saying no thank you we are not aloud to do that but she will then continue to do the exact same thing over and over until I in the verge losing my shit at her.
My partner is no help at all when it comes to disciplining behaviour. Even after multiple conversations asking him if she does something that isnt aloud you must redirect her and tell her why she cant have it.
Im trying to stay calm when telling her off as well and trying to regulate myself as well and breaking cycles from how I was brought up .
Can I please have some advice from mumma that are also trying to break cycles š

I found some helpful tips in the book "how to talk so little kids will listen". I personally don't see the benefit of a naughty corner particularly at such a young age- I know they seem to understand a lot and they do, but they are also lacking forethought and impulse control, they aren't trying to be "naughty", often they are just looking for a reaction. We do natural consequences so it makes sense to them. Like, if you hit I am going to move away from you and not give you attention, if you can't stay away from that item I'll have to put it away/remove you from the room.

You can try a different approach. Try minimal reaction to the negative behaviour such as simple redirection and calmly saying 'no thank you, we dont do that' and simply step away, giving very little reaction. Then give big reactions to positive behaviours such as giving praise and extra attention when you child behaves well, even if its something small. The more attention your child gets, the more they will try to replicate it, so it makes sense that if she gets more attention for bad behaviour then she is more likely to keep doing it. So this means if she gets more attention for good behaviour then then shes also more likely to keep doing that. If that makes sense. š
