23 weeks pregnant and struggling emotionally
Hi everyone. I’m 23 weeks pregnant with my first baby, and I’m feeling really overwhelmed lately.
I’m a first-time mom, so everything about pregnancy is new to me. I moved to the United States about three years ago, and I still don’t really have a support system here. All of my family is back in my home country, and I miss them so much. Sometimes I wish I had my mom or another family member close by to help me or simply be there for me.
It’s basically just my husband and me. He works long hours, so I spend most of my days alone at home. The few people I’ve met here haven’t really been very present or supportive, so most of the time I feel like I have no one to lean on besides my husband.
I’ve struggled with anxiety in the past, and since becoming pregnant, it feels like my emotions have become much more intense. Some days I cry for what feels like no reason, I overthink everything, and I constantly worry that the stress I’m feeling could somehow affect my baby. That thought scares me more than anything.
I love my baby so much already, and I’m trying my best every day, but lately I don’t feel like myself. Sometimes I feel emotionally exhausted, isolated, and like I’m carrying all of these feelings by myself. I also miss feeling like “me.” Pregnancy has been beautiful in many ways, but it has also been one of the loneliest experiences I’ve ever gone through.
I’m not looking for judgment. I think I just need to know that I’m not the only person who has felt this way during pregnancy. If you’ve gone through something similar, how did you cope? Did it get better? Any advice or words of encouragement would really mean a lot right now.
Thank you for taking the time to read this. ❤️
