Partner Rant

Why do I feel so angry? He is a great dad but crap partner.
In my eyes he puts himself first and his needs, gym everyday 630am then goes straight to work. (which in the 2 years we have been together he has NEVER been to the gym). Today has gone for an all day tattoo session he works mon and fri 9-5 so weekends are what I class as family time. He won’t even offer to get up with the baby to give me a a lay in, I’ve mentioned it but every time I do it becomes an argument and we go back normal. He also has a child from previous relationship so we have him every other weekend and he is pre teen so doesn’t want to do anything so we get dictated by him on what we do on his weekends which my partner just allows. Along with the attitude and disagreements that I have to just grin and bear.

I feel like I have to beg for him to spend time with his baby and me. When he is home he is on his phone or moaning he tired ALL THE TIME.

I love him and I really want to make it work but at the same time I feel like I am being taken for granted in my own home.

Advice please 🤍🙏🏻

How would you react?

Bit of backstory - I have recently joined my husband abroad. Previously I was pretty much a single mum working full-time taking care of 2 kids while my husband and I were going through some stuff, but i was also caring for family. So we were living apart but I was making my own money, had my own car and although I had no time for anything other than work and homelife I had the choice to do what I want. Now we are a 1 car household, I'm home with the kids 24/7, where we live you need a car to get around. Our garden is big and we have a pool so its not too bad, but we have left the house less than a handful of times in 3 weeks (2 weeks consecutive, then we were away for a week then this week we've not left the house).

So after knowing the backstory how would you feel if at the beginning of the week you and hubby planned that today he would come home for lunch and you would take him back to work and have the car for the afternoon, only for him to come home and say he forgot and he needs the car? I had an appointment and I was planning to take the kids to the library to check it out and borrow some books and nip to the shop to get some workbooks and craft stuff for them. We were all ready to go when he got in.
It upset me and it pissed me off! And I guess it reminded me that I'm no longer as independent as I was before.
I'm also 8 days away from my period and I've noticed lately that from around 10 days before my period I'm a little more irritable and overall miserable so I'm wondering if I'm overreacting. How would you feel?

Is my sentimental lawn decoration racist?? Very upset and not sure how to handle this situation!

Hi! So for context… when my daughter was 3, her dad/my husband died in a motorcycle accident. I was pregnant at the time, and shortly after I miscarried (Dr said probably due to stress from everything happening at the time). Anyways, a week after I miscarried, my friend convinced me to bring my daughter to this fall fest with her and her kids, where the children got to make scarecrows but stuffing donated clothes with hay, and a drawing a face on a stuffed pillow case for the head. My daughter told me that day she was naming her scarecrow “brother” so she could still hug the baby I lost. We have has this scare crow for several years now, and it just kind of sits in our yard, proper up on our porch railing… she goes out there and talks to him, and she hugs him every day and tell him she loves him. He’s pretty old, and the weather has not been kind so his face is completely gone now and his clothes are all faded. But she doesn’t care. He’s become a part of our daily routine, and he’s a very sentimental part of our lives. I also want to add we live in rowhomes with main roads on both our front and back yards, meaning he’s visible where ever we put him.

My neighbor knocked on my door recently and said my “white hooded scarecrow” is racist and they would like it removed. I tried to explain its significance and that it’s just weather worn and not meant to be offensive at all, but they didn’t care and made a huge scene. I tucked him in our shed for the night so the neighbor would leave, but was very rattled by the interpretation. I don’t want to throw him away, but I don’t want to make anyone uncomfortable and now I just feel helpless and not sure what to do…. I’m scared if I bring him inside incase he has bugs. I don’t really want my daughter sneaking into our shed, where I keep my yard tools that are dangerous….if i need to get rid of him, how do I explain this to a 6 year old?

Am I Overreacting?

Context: I have been home all day today. Husband is a smoker and came home from work around 4:00pm. In the evenings, he steps out for a smoke and as it gets later, he steps out more frequently. Tonight, after stepping out the fire alarm went off. We are in an area very hazy from the wildfires and when he opens and closes the door frequently, the alarm blames. (Note: our 5 year old is sleeping). He disconnected the alarm. OK, for now..I asked him to reconnect it before going to bed. He said no thinking it'll keep going off. But it hasn't gone off all day, until the constant in and out. I said if I die in a fire, I'd haunt him.. apparently, we are now fighting. He said I'd smell the smoke and wake up..

We’re the A-holes this time..

Why do our guys put us in the most annoying situations?
In our apartment complex we have to pay for parking or use the few open guest parking that are hardly ever available.
Today we did a VERY big grocery trip, cut it real close to getting home as in my partners going to be late to work. (He works overnights) On top of those things I’m the size of a basketball (5mo pregnant) AND our 1.5 yr old is asleep in her car seat.

To save some time and be out of the way, he thought it’d be a good idea just to park in someone’s spot. He’ll be like 5-10 minutes for unloading groceries, babe this is someone’s spot “they’re not going to pull up it’ll be fine.” It was not fine 3 minutes later im in the car with the sleeping baby, she pulls up. I hear “Hey excuse me this is my spot” I tell her I know we’re just unloading groceries we’re trying to make it quick I apologize. She tells me she pays for the spot and we need to move as soon as he gets out. I go yes of course, in my head I’m like I’m sorry trust me I DIDN’T WANT THIS ENCOUNTER AT ALL!
Of course he has the keys, he left his phone in here. I found out we can’t hear honking in our apartment from the parking lot today.
Around minute 7 she’s red faced and yelling at me, “I’m in a rush, this is my spot I pay for, I can see your car on(she seen hazards blinking..), you can’t move it? your sorry means nothing, your argument is invalid, don’t park here,”

I’m just sitting here and I told her about almost the whole deal, baby sleeping, groceries, not having the keys, he left his phone here and I’m not leaving my kid in here alone.
Ugh it all just made her more mad and want to argue. I didn’t argue on my end I know we’re in the wrong and I can’t say anything to make the situation better but god dam man I just know I’m going to see this person more often just cause of this one instance 😒

THANKS BABE!

Thoughts? Overreacting?

Context - So both my husband and I work full-time. I am the breadwinner and always have been. My role/career can be stressful and I recently switched to a new company 3 months ago. The pace and pressure at this company has been a massive adjustment. I am in meetings and high pressure situations quite literally the entire day - with little to no downtime.

My husband works in higher education and the pace during the summer is very slow.

Yesterday - my husband took the day off and went to the beach to relax. He came home tired because he had been drinking and was in the sun all day. He started to doze on the couch and I said “hey I need help with bedtime tonight” as we usually alternate and I had worked all day, managed dinner, daycare pickup, bath etc. He was groggy but read books and didn’t say anything.

Today - I left the house at 7:30AM and got home at 7:30PM. Back to back all day, I slept poorly last night and expressed how exhausted I was. I picked up dinner for us but otherwise my husband helped with daycare pickup and my son’s dinner because he got home from work at 3:30pm. I fell asleep on the couch after I got home while my son was watching a show.

Next thing I know my husband is turning on all the lights full blast saying that I should be doing bedtime and to wake up. And that I did that to him yesterday so - my turn. He did this in front of my son and I’m honestly just livid. Yes, I did ask him to wake up yesterday after he had the DAY OFF at the beach and I worked all day/managed the evening routine to that point.

I worked a 12 hour day today, said how tired I was and was already actually fully asleep. I am just so mad. I understand he thinks the two situations are equal but they simply aren’t. If he had worked all day yesterday and was falling asleep then I wouldn’t have asked him to help last night. But he didn’t - he went kayaking and lounged on the beach….

Am I overreacting? I just feel so disrespected.
