My daughter cannot put herself to sleep, I am having to fully rock her to sleep every nap and night time. Have tried popping her in the cot when she’s tired just to see what happens but when I pop my head round the eyes are still wide open but she’s also a nightmare to transfer once sleeping too 😂
Anyone else in the same boat? Make me feel better pls!

Its totally biologically normal for babies need support to sleep, all 3 of mine (10,3 and 5 months) needed feeding, cuddling, rocking or holding to sleep, for ages. I think its rarer to have a baby, especially so young to not need a caregiver input to sleep. You're doing everything right, their nervous systems rely on ours so much and sleep is one of those things that I'd say most babies cant do alone. It'll happen one day- you're doing amazing 🫶🫶

My daughter is 6 months old. As a newborn there were the few occasions she’d sleep in a bassinet downstairs or in her cot upstairs next to us. But she’d wake and would sleep so much better on us or next to us. We tried the rocking then putting her down when she was asleep. She’d know and wake. Done babies genuinely just sleep better certain ways or gave high sleep needs. As of right now, my daughter is currently latched and falling asleep that way. We’ve co-slept since she was newborn really. Had pp anxiety, physically jumping into her cot on the few occasions she’d sleep for a short period of time in there, which obviously was scary and I didn’t want to accidentally fall onto her in a panic. The panicking and anxiety calmed when she was next to me. She settled much easier next to me. Feeding was more convenient too and a comfort.

She will not nap in her pram, never really has. Maybe a few times when she was only a few weeks old but preferred the carrier. At one point she’d only sleep when being in the carrier and walked about with. Or being on my pregnancy ball and bouncing her to sleep.
She will now either sleep being rocked, every nap and bedtime. Or fed, then rocked, then latch again when drowsy or in a light sleep.

So common. My 13 month old is still like this and has never gone to sleep by herself in a cot

We can get her to sleep in the carrier still if her face is covered by her hat or we cover her with our coat zipped so she doesn’t get FOMO

Mine was like this fr a while but gradually we got her to sleep next to us and now she sleeps all on her own
