My partner and I have just bickered over cleaning, he thinks he’s the only one that cleans because he does the kitchen everyday (he mainly uses it) and cleaned the dining room ONCE, bearing in mind we have a three bed two reception room house as he does naff all in any other room. I do all the other rooms/stairs/hallway etc. I apparently don’t do ANY cleaning because I don’t do it everyday and do it when I can or want to as I have a 6 month old. Yes, I’ll hold my hands up and say sometimes I let it go a little longer than I should but I’m soaking up time with my baby! He’s been at home all my maternity also (lying on the sofa) so why can’t he do something? Maybe he should scrub the toilet after he’s used it rather than me cleaning it?! I just feel so unappreciated and that I have to choose between my baby and cleaning? I do clean and when I do I deep clean but if I let a pile of clothes build it’s the end of the world?! He said I don’t do anything around the house because “all you do is go out and go to baby groups” - isn’t that what maternity leave is for? I do feel like my maternity leave has been intruded on a little as he’s always been around. Why should I have to justify going to baby groups? I’ve also made friends at these groups as I don’t have many friends. As I’ve just fed baby and got him down for a nap I’m cleaning the spare room for his parents to stay whilst he’s gone to the gym sulking? I adore the chap but he is causing my maternity leave feel like it should be used to do household chores and not spend time with my baby? I have spoken to so many people who have said their house was not spic and span on maternity leave. I have 6 weeks of mat leave left and I just want to enjoy it.
He is a good egg and does the bottles and watches baby whilst I do jobs around the house but him nagging is so draining and makes me fill sh*t.
