MIL

I’ve been having some issues with my mil and sent her this text. I wanted to be direct but respectful. Does this message sound mean?

💬 I’m sending this message because I don’t want to be interrupted or have the conversation become emotional. I want to communicate my thoughts clearly.

I’m going to be direct. Sam advocates for me because he is my partner. I would never expect him to address concerns with my mother — I would handle that myself because she’s my mother. You may disagree with that approach, but that doesn’t make it wrong.

I am genuinely grateful that you’ve allowed us to stay in your home during this time. At the same time, from the day I moved in, I’ve felt uncomfortable. I’ve tried to put those feelings aside and approach each interaction with an open mind, but that feeling has remained because of repeated situations that have left me feeling uneasy.

I don’t feel comfortable coming to you directly because, honestly, I don’t even feel comfortable having casual conversations with you. We are very different people, and the times I’ve let my guard down and been myself, I’ve regretted it. When we talk, I overthink everything I say because I’m afraid of how it will be interpreted.

In the past, I’ve made small talk only to later learn you told Sam that I’m “not driven” and other things that hurt my feelings. You’ve also told both of us that you believe I’m using him. Comments like those have made it difficult for me to feel relaxed/comfortable around you.

It also made me very upset when we visited your parents and they knew sam and I were having relationship issues. That was not information I believed should have been shared, and it made me feel that my privacy wasn’t respected.

Sam, Miles, and I are a family. He is my immediate family, and I am his. We are committed to putting each other first. Aside from one occasion, every time I’ve left the house has been because I felt uncomfortable in your presence. This is really putting a strain on Sam and mine’s relationship.

I would genuinely like for us to have a respectful relationship. That requires boundaries, mutual respect, and kindness. I am willing to reflect and take responsibility for my contribution in this. I hope you’re willing to do the same.

I’m not sending this message to argue or assign blame. I’m sending it because I want things to improve, and that can’t happen unless these concerns are acknowledged and respected.

This situation has been emotionally exhausting for both me and Sam. My hope is that you’ll take the time to consider what I’ve shared and try to understand it from my perspective, even if you don’t agree with every part of it.💬

I think this is beyond respectful. However with mother in laws I usually hear regardless of how you say something they’ll cause an issue😭

Oh man mama this is tough! Sounds like your MIL is the type to think she’s losing her son in a marriage instead of also gaining a daughter. I think the sentiment behind this letter is wonderful, I’m not sure how she will take it. Either way, if it will make you feel better to send it and say your peace then do it girl! I’m not sure but seems to me, a woman like her will never like any woman other than herself in her son’s life…

How ???

Why is it okay for men to just come and go as they please ?
BD just gets up gets changed and says cya later and walks out the house to go on a night out only to return at 5:30am and then spend the remainder of the day in bed.
Meanwhile I’m looking after our 2 kids who are under 2.
How is this behaviour seen as acceptable ?

My husband sucks at parenting

He just so mean and verbally aggressive towards our children. I’m constantly defending them and mediating every situation, and we fight constantly because I constantly intervene in his parenting moments because they’re just not how you parent. I don’t know what to do because he won’t change, and if we divorce, we get 50/50 custody so that doesn’t really seem like the better option since I wouldn’t be there to act as a barrier.

It’s the way he talks to them when his patience has ran out, which is happening a lot more lately.

Has anyone introduced dancing fruits to there baby yet?

Honestly dancing fruits has been a god send at calming my little one (5weeks old) and it’s amazing to see how much his eyes follow the fruit on the screen! And he even smiles at it!😀 highly recommend!

Not being heard

It feels like my husband isn’t hearing me. I have said to him before about wanting to do something and then he goes and we do something else. Like I wanted to go to pride with my friend but instead my husband and I, with our 2 kids, go to a tractor pull thing and I also just got a tooth pulled out not that long ago. There are other things that I have said that I didn’t want to go with but he insisted that I need to go. It is like it goes in one ear and out the other ear. I’m just at a list bc even if I try to talk to him, it ends in an argument and he just goes and tells his family or my family about the stuff I do wrong. I don’t want to end up how my parents were when I was younger but I’m just to the point idk what to do. Sorry for the long post, just don’t know where to rant at anymore
