Are there any Mums who will be teaching their little one reading BEFORE any school?

I know I always see Mums saying that they are leaving it up to the teachers for when their little starts school. However, are there any Mums teaching reading before that instead? We have been teaching our toddler words here and there in his favorite books and will do more as he gets older. We just want to give him the best start and also it is easier for us to teach him where we can offer one on one... Which I know can be difficult in school, when there is a class full of children

Changing nursery/pre school

Hi, my daughter is 3 and has been going to the same nursery since she was 10 months. She is happy there and has friends etc. We get the 30 hours funding but they still have a consumables and activities fee so it’s costs us around £130 a month for her to do 2 days a week. It’s long days too and she gets so tired and overwhelmed by the end of the day. We now have twins who will likely be starting in January so that’s another £130 a month each for them, so £260 for the twins alone, £390 for all of them to stay at the same place! For this reason we are considering moving our daughter to a different preschool from September that will be shorter days and only cost us £20 a month (big difference) The new place is lovely, a bit smaller, and she does already have a friend who goes there. But I just feel guilty taking her away from where she knows.
After some advice or opinions from anyone who has moved their child and if it’s all been ok and you had no regrets?

9 month old not eating

Hello!

Our little one was doing so well with food, loved his purees in all flavours and did bits of self feeding. All of a sudden he’s not taking any meals, won’t even let you go near him with a spoon and chucks any food we give him as finger food to the floor without even trying near his mouth.

We know if we gave him a sweet puree he’d most likely take it. But don’t want him to get used to this and only eat fruit flavours? What do we do? If he doesn’t have what we offer in terms of savoury just leave him or do we give in and give him what he likes so at least tries to have some solids?

Days out for me and little boy

Hi guys looking for some ideas, me and my little boy live in Leominster and we are constantly stuck in the house as my partner has to work most days and we are getting very bored is there anything me and my almost 15 month old little boy can do in the area or around Hereford with in walking distance or train please

Is there something wrong with me?

My partner is great, he's emotionally mature, understanding, provides as much as he can and he's quite sweet and sentimental. We definitely have a "golden retriever/black cat" dynamic because I am quite blunt, sassy, direct and nonchalant. We've been together for a year and met when I was pregnant (my son's sperm donor has not been in the picture since I ended it at 10 weeks pregnant). I never really expected a relationship to happen when we met but it did and he's got an amazing relationship with my son and sees him as his own. I've struggled with PPD and PPA severely since having my son and he's been there trying his best to help me get through it - like everyone says to me that he's a great man and to keep him etc and I agree, I love him a lot and can't actually see my future without him.

The issue is my actions are not mirroring how I feel in my opinion. I feel like get frustrated with him so easily. We don't live together and because of his work schedule sometimes he's around so much and sometimes I just don't see him. He always says he's going to try to be around more and I think I just keep getting disappointed by him. And he really tries to help when he's here by washing dishes and bottles and cleaning up but a lot of the times the bottles still have dried milk left at the bottom when I go to use them and stuff and it's so frustrating because I keep having to repeat myself - it seems like the time we spend together is me complaining about him offering to do things and then doing it half assed and I feel really bad.

Sometimes when he calls I just don't want to talk because I'm always tired looking after the bubba or he calls me late at night or when I'm trying to sleep and I just find it annoying - I try to be understanding about his work schedule but sometimes I find myself getting annoyed by it and that fact that he doesn't know how to say no to his boss and ends up working ridiculous hours.

We also have little clashes about superficial things like grooming and the clothes that he wears and sometimes hygiene - just stuff like wearing work clothes outside of work and just generally looking presentable when we go to see family or something (but I was raised by a mum who wore heels to the supermarket so that's probably just me 😂) but sometimes I find myself wondering what it would be like to be with someone else who understands these values that I have and I feel bad. I just feel like I love him but just not as much as he loves me ? Maybe I just don't appreciate him enough? Or is it also to do with postpartum hormones ?

Does a working father not have to be a dad

Long Rant: So personally, I feel like a father has matching DNA 🧬 and a Dad actually spends time raising a child. So with that being said, does going to work everyday exempt a man from physically doing things for the children? Like, he doesn't attempt to get up when the baby cries. If I mention that the baby's hungry or needs his diaper changed, he doesn't budge. He'll tell me to pass him the baby if he's really screaming on me (gotta take it personal), then I'm expected to make the bottle or get the diaper and handle business. Like he doesn't show any effort. At least attempt and let me tell you I'll handle it, because you worked all day. Like I don't get an hour to myself ever! I wanna get to the point where I don't even expect him to do anything. I'm really on my own when it comes to physically caring for Our child. Is this how men really be?
