I took the 3 hour glucose test today and come out as having gestational diabetes. I haven’t stopped crying because I’m so stressed out now and I’m a smaller person to begin with so they were already watching me for potentially having a bigger baby and now I’m convinced I’ll be induced early and be way more likely to have to have a c section which I really really don’t want. I’ve only heard horror stories about getting induced early. Does anyone have any positive stories or advice?

So I actually didn’t end up having it… but I had to be tested 4 times in pregnancy because of how baby was measuring.
They keep a close eye on it.. and even though right up to the end she was measuring big in all the ‘wrong’ places.. she was absolutely fine and 7lb at birth.
She did come two weeks early.. but it was all natural. That’s just when my waters broke and she decided to make her entrance.

Hi feel free to DM me about it. I would consider myself as a healthy person and a healthy weight but developed gestational diabetes later on during my pregnancy and told numerous times that baby would be big (she was up to 100th percentile during one growth scan). We faced the very difficult decision you are facing now but opted for a c section a week before our due date.
In most ways I think that was completely the right decision. It was so lovely knowing when baby was to arrive and the surgery was calm and the most precious moment of my life. The ward afterwards was amazing and she latched immediately onto my breast.
However, on the flip side we struggled continuing with breast feeding and I do put that down to having a c section instead of a natural birth (it’s nice to blame something other than yourself but in all honesty maybe it had nothing to do with it). I did struggle with my recovery but that’s not true for most women who have c sections.

In the end our LO measured 50th percentile! So we potentially didn’t need to go down that route HOWEVER she’s happy and thriving so it doesn’t really matter!!
My diabetes cleared up as soon as she was born but the GP signed me up for an app/programme to reduce future risk of developing which has been AMAZING!
I had to cut out sugar and carbs during Christmas which was very hard but there are some helpful websites out there which can help you manage.
This one is super helpful
