Weaning

Our baby girl is now 5 months old and I wanted to know what are the signs that she should be wanting to start on solid food ( weaning).

I find when bottles aren’t enough. My little ones 5 months today and been eating since month 3 and has been showing many signs of readiness. As did my daughter when she was a newborn x

What were the signs x

Finishing bottles and still being fussy etc x

One of the signs is sitting and holding their head steady and being able to bring things to their mouth.

Being able to sit up and showing an interest are the main signs of readiness. However, I’d wait another month minimum. There are a lot of studies about how waiting until 6 months at least to introduce solids is most beneficial for the gut. We laid foundations by sitting our little boy at the table with us at mealtimes from about 5 months and gave him a spoon and a little bowl to play with. Then after 6 months we introduced solids. Will do the same with my March baby who at 4m is desperate for a sandwich already 😂

Toddler nonstop complaining

Sat here crying because ive had to resort to putting on Teletubbies AGAIN just so we can have some relief. My (non verbal) little boy will be 2 this month. He seems to be in a phase where he is just angry all day and high pitched whinging and screaming especially when his daddy stops playing with him because he needs to like...have a pee...have a shower...etc! He only wants his daddy half the time I guess because im more like...go play i need to wash up...
Today daddy went for a shower and I offered little man a yogurt that he wanted but no. He only wanted daddy to give it to him and started having a meltdown that he was in the shower. We all need a break...im trying to recover from a bit of a breakdown after being made redundant. I desperately need some quiet at home and some serenity....i just start crying instantly when I am bombarded with crying now. And I know I need to toughen up somehow
If anyone has any suggestions I would love to know. We've started trying to be tougher with him and tell him to stop whinging and angry squeaking but so far it doesn't work.

Should the childs father buy clothes if he rarely has the child overnight?

My ex has asked for reduced time rather than long weekends in shorter hald terms and 2 weeks at sumner holidays and 1 week easter and 4 nights at christmas, he has asker for 4 nights twice a year in summer holidays so like 4 nights beginning of and 4 nights the middle or end only. He asked to otherwise see them 10 until 4 every 2 weeks on a saturday for the day. He pays £100 a week for child maintenance altogether for 3 kids. He earns 90k a year and lives rent free. He buys nothing in terms of clothes, school uniforms, shoes, a coat, a school trip etc nothing as he says i should buy everything with the maintenance the 30 odd quid a child a week. They all have additional needs and costs too. They go to 3 different schools due to their needs not being able to be in the same schools. He also expects that on his saturdays i provide packed lunch and drinks and snacks and he gets them after brrakfast being 10am and brings them back before dinner at home. He does no occassions either. School uniforms for september alone cost over £900 activities like football and swimming for 3 kids comes at £200 per month and school dinners is hundreds too. Is it too much to ask he buys a few outfits for them each a couple of times a year ? Contributes to school uniforms n buys his kids something at christmas?

Moving with boyfriend and his son. His son annoys me so much when it comes to food. How do you handle your stepchild or child eating habits? (He’s 13)

Ex. I made chiptole at home, literally every side dish you can think of to put in your burrito. He literally ate 90% of the meat, lettuce and cheese - that’s it. Opens up chips that I would bring over, rips the sides off. Today I found out he opened up literally 5 packs of pancakes just to take 1-2 out of each(their 3 packs) instead of finishing up the pack from before.

What best thing to give baby for breakfasts?

I know they say baby rice is no good, so what else are we giving? I heard ready break is okay but does that have high sugar content?

Interest in solids

Anybody's baby has started showing a lot of interest in solids? My husband wants to let her lick or have some of his food, I don't think that's a good idea but welcome to hear some thoughts and comments. Thanks
