Would you be upset: no midwives showed up for their appointments and no one was told

I was supposed to have my 34 week appointment today where my anemia was going to be checked and she was going to follow up on my VBAC consultation that I been trying to get. I got to the GP and another expectant Mum advised me that no midwives have shown up and she had been waiting since 9:30 (it was 10:15) and the GP didn't know what was going on. So, we both rang maternity and it turns out that the midwife clinic was cancelled today (no illnesses or anything)... However, no one was told. I am a bit upset because I have concerns at the moment and have been waiting a few weeks to get a VBAC appointment. Just wondering if anyone else would be a bit upset at this, after travelling there especially if you are in a lot of pain? They said they can only apologize (which is true not their fault) and try to rebook as soon as they can.

Pre natal, maternity and post natal care in this country is not prioritised and treated as bottom of the barrel. It’s ridiculous and stinks of systemic misogyny. You are 1000% right to feel annoyed! There’s no point in complaining to the maternity services they don’t care but I would say going forward be thrawn in advocating for your care - next app they give you ask how they will let you know it is cancelled in future and request a number you can call to check if they will show up that day. It’s terrible women have to be like this when already in vulnerable positions. Wishing you health and happiness 💖💖

Yes. I’d be pissed off. I get mistakes happen but it is annoying and a waste of time.
Particularly when you’re worried or have questions. It is disrespectful.

Like if I didn’t turn up you would get a did not attend or kicked out if repeated… yet it happens all the time on their side.

I didn’t even see my midwives till about 22 weeks as they forgot about me. Apparently I’m meant to make the first appointment (but was not told this). I was meant to be seeing her every 2 weeks from 16 weeks apparently…
I was classed as high risk as well and had my scans.
I always found the antenatal ones pointless.. blood pressure, urine dip, listen to heart rate and out the door.
Like I thought we’d discuss birth plan, birth options, mental health, symptoms, what appointments happen after, what I can and can’t do, etc. but nothing
Thought she would see me antenatally as well but never saw her again haha

Even maternity was confused of why the midwife told me I was anemic but said it would be easier for me to buy the iron medication myself because a prescription would take 2 weeks…I have been paying out of pocket when I have an exemption, so they sorted it all

How long does your “adult time” usually last?!

My husband is convinced that going for an hour plus every time is normal and that I should be thrilled. I prefer a good 15 to 20 max start to finish. I rarely am in the mood cause I know i’m about to lose a full hour to hour and a half of personal time especially since we have two small children so my personal time is precious 😩. Do you guys have hour long sessions all the time or is this abnormal and i’m actually not crazy for not enjoying it?! It’s also not every now and again it’s EVERY SINGLE TIME.

Are there such things as an “inappropriate” name for a baby?

Examples - names of cities, word spelled backwards, names of tv characters, etc.

Or is there no such thing as a wrong/ inappropriate name?

*Not referring to curse words as names..

What put you into labor?

I want to hear all the stories! With my son I did yoga and was dancing while reorganizing my closet when my water broke. I am getting closer to my due date now and i am curious what worked or didn't work for other moms.

Brown spotting

Hi. I’m 6w1d and last night had brown discharge. Splodge on the pad last night, but when checked this morning there was nothing else. I am on progesterone pessaries. Pregnancy test still comes up as positive, but I’m worried this might be bad news..
At week 7 I’ve got early viability scan booked but it’s a week to wait.
