Building Our Registry

Hi mamas!
I'm currently expecting my first baby girl and I trying to building our registry for items that I absolutely need and will use. I've heard a lot of different opinions of what I will need and use and then others are different, which I don't know what to get and it's starting to stress me out! Any recommendations and suggestions are greatly appreciated!

Bulk pack of burp cloths, multiple different paci brands, paci clips, lots of 2-way zipper footies, if you plan on pumping, a flange sizing kit with multiple sizes, portable diaper caddy, and a washable changing pad

My musts include pajamas with fold over hands (do not buy mittens!)
Spray diaper cream
Tubby Todd all over ointment.
If breastfeeding, disposable breast pads (sorry. The reusable ones make you smell like a bread factory and the milk NEVER washes out)
GOOD towels for baby that are big and absorb and and have hoods. I love kea baby

Everybody's going to have a different preference with this, for some like myself less is more. Especially because I bought most things myself so I tried to buy things that had multiple purposes.

I used Amazon registry they have an amazing return policy. I’d put pack and play. Hatch or mom cozy sound machine. Back of door organizer. Baby towels/wash cloths. Starting solids kit. Wipeable high chair.

Don’t get those cute bassinets, they grow out of it so fast, get a pack and play so that way you can also use it for travel.

Am I being selfish by putting my baby to sleep by 8pm and having a strict routine?

My baby goes to sleep between 8 - 8.3 depending on his last nap and I am strict by it as he is goes over its difficult to put him to sleep. It's the same thing with stimulation near his bedtime. It's taken me over an hour to put him to sleep because he fell asleep in the car my husband woke him up and when we walked into the house my in-laws straight away grabbed him and stimulated him. I
Told my husband specifically I need to put him to sleep so take him straight to the room.

I put him down at this time, as 1 he's tired but also after he goes to sleep I get
To shower, make food, eat and have some me time. Whereas for everybody else they want to spend that time with him but I'm the one that has to suffer after.

Am I selfish for wanting some me time in the evening and putting him to sleep and essentially taking away that time with my in-laws? (They work and often back late evening)

Does anyone else’s baby hysterically scream every time they get out of the bath?

My baby is coming up to 5 months old and ever since her first ever bath, she has always screamed her lungs out after about 10 seconds of being in her towel. When it was colder weather, we tried to warm the towel up a bit and have the heating on so she wouldn’t have such a shock in the temperature change but this didn’t work. We tried drying and dressing her in different rooms, putting on calm music/favourite songs, keeping her in the towel for a bit and trying to distract her but it always ends up in tears.
Does anyone else have this problem? Is there anything you find helps or why she may be getting in such a state?

Bedtime routine/times

Hi mamas! Just wondering what bedtime your May 2026 babies have?

I’m feeling a bit guilty because my LO is usually in bed quite early now and it means his dad only gets about 1.5–2 hours with him after work before he’s asleep.

At the moment, his 5th and final nap finishes before 6pm, then he’s awake for around 1.5–2 hours. During that time we play, have some quiet wind-down time and get ready for bed. He’s exclusively breastfed, so I do his feed and bedtime. Dad has suggested I should add in another nap so he can go bed later (when he was a newborn he’d go to sleep around 10pm) but he’s naturally shifted into an earlier bedtime and selfishly I finally get some time to myself but I can’t help but feel guilty.

Need help baby isn’t sleeping

Hallie is 10 month old on the 13th and she’s never been a good sleeper but the past 2 months it’s got soo bad she’s on 3 meals a day and doesn’t have formula during the day anymore has a 10 ounce bottle before bed but she goes to sleep having the bottle and less than 10 mins later she’s up screaming throwing her head back not wanting the bottle or dummy don’t even think she wants me holding her. She tires herself out and goes to sleep after almost 2 hours of screaming then is awake again over and over again during the night doing the same thing, sometimes even 8 times during the night. it’s got soo bad we’ve had to take her out every night to get her asleep in the car then transfer her into the cot. We’ve tried everything kept a routine, dropped a nap and filled her up before bed in case she’s hungry but nothings working. It’s also like it doesn’t make a difference how she is during the night she’s fine during the day but I’m hardly sleeping. Ive contacted the health visitor and they said they will come out to see us but been a week and haven’t heard anything.
Does anyone have any advice. Anything else I can try.
