You’re not married or engaged, you see them all the time, they’re your child’s grandparents - what do you call them? I keep going to call them the in-laws but there’s technically no law involved so..?

When we weren't married I'd just say my partner's parents.
In the same way I call them my in laws now unless I'm talking with my kids and we'll obviously say "Granny and Grandad."
Talking to other adults without kids around saying "my kid's grandparents' would be weird. Why bring the kids into it? Talk about what they are to you - they're your partner's parents.
