Hi girlies 🤍 Any breastfeeding/pumping tips for a new mumma please? 🥹🍼 It’s only day 2 since my baby arrived and I’m trying to get my milk supply going. Bub is currently in NICU with jaundice and has been vomiting his feeds, including my colostrum and feeds through his tube, so he’s currently on an IV drip 🥺💔 which means I’m not really able to keep latching him like I normally would to stimulate my supply. I’ve been expressing/pumping instead, but it’s been sooo inconsistent — yesterday I managed around 50 mL altogether, but today I’m barely getting anything. 😭 I know my actual milk can take a few days to come in, especially after a C-section, but I’d love to know what genuinely helped you girls get your milk going when you couldn’t have bub constantly on the breast — pumping routines, foods/drinks, massage, skin-to-skin when possible, anything! And when did your milk properly come in? 🥹🤍🍼

Latch baby all the time whenever you feed them. You don’t technically need to pump. But if you do then add in a pumping session in between nursing. Or do one bottle or syringe feeding and then pump then.

You should def keep pumping it will help you lots. Also skin to skin, I had a vaginal birth bur it was a bit traumatic for me so I did not know express actual milk until I got discharged, but what helped me at the hospital to produce was drinking lots of electrolytes along with high protein meals, also try to put your baby to breast that will stimulate you as well

Hi there mama ❤️ my daughter was sent to the NICU right when she was born and we were separated for the first 24 hours I got skin to skin for about 5 minutes before they took her away. She didn’t get a chance to latch so my body went a long time without any stimulation which caused a super delay in even colostrum I didn’t get any colostrum out until like day 2 after she was born and I made like 2 drops I just kept hand expressing and pumping every 1-2 hours for about 10 minutes at a time. Since baby was bottle fed the first 24 hours and she had a tongue tie latching made it almost impossible for us. So pumping was the way to go. I also ate a lot of oatmeal but not sure if that really did anything milk came in after about 5ish colostrum came in after day 3 and milk came after day 5ish.

My baby's 6 weeks old spent her first 11 days in the NICU I couldn't directly breastfeed for the first 9 days of her life keep hand expressing or pumping every two hours even if you don't get much it may take 2/3 for you milk to come in but because baby isn't feeding of you, you need to start and continue the process of getting the milk out so you have the supply eating alot of protein/ having good meals and drinking plenty will help your supply so much!! Drink when you are pumping and when you start breastfeeding also have a small snack with you in both occasions too as your body takes alot of effort to make the milk and keep up with supply
