Of course I love this beautiful baby inside me. Of course I am SO UNBELIEVABLY excited to meet him/her (we don’t know the gender) but am I the only one who’s 37 weeks pregnant who doesn’t feel this unrelenting undying maternal connection to their baby? So far my baby has been my little buddy - we play tag through my belly, I love when they’re active and knowing that 50% of me and 50% of the person I love most in this world have created life but I still don’t have that connection I keep hearing about. Is something wrong with me?

Of course there’s no problem with you. It’s really hard to feel true connection until they’re actually in your arms for the first time. Like the first time you hold your baby in they’re screaming and as soon as they hit your chest, they just stop crying because they recognize you and they’re so comfortable and they love you so much. You will 100% feel the connection people talk about. Some people definitely feel a close connection while they’re pregnant, but it’s also hard to imagine. Don’t feel down and don’t feel bad about not feeling a full connection to your baby just yet

I completely understand , and everyone told me when you meet them you will connect but it didn’t happen right away , I had this unbelievable amount of love for my children but it took a while before I had that connection, I would say maybe a week or 2 , it’s normal

I have heard that for some people it doesn’t happen straight away, even after birth. It might take minutes, or a few days, or a few weeks but you 100% will feel it - in your own time!

Totally didn’t feel a deep connection with my first until a few days later! It all was such a whirlwind, a completely HUGE and new experience… Even though she had a beautiful normal birth, my brain still kind of disassociated I think in hindsight.
With my second I felt the deep love and connection right away. I didn’t want to be parted from her, and wanted her skin touching mine constantly from the first second.
With this third baby I’m much more excited to meet her! M
Sharing just to express that we process these emotions and changes differently and at our own pace! Nothing wrong with you ❤️

Totally normal. It’s even normal to feel no connection after the birth.
It’s a life changing experience and it’s a new person that you still have to get to know. For some people it’s love at first sight, for others, it’s not that easy and they need to form that connection first and learn to love the newest family addition. And that’s ok too🤍
In the end, you will end up loving your bay sooo much no matter how easy/hard the start was. But she/he will become your new favourite person and be your greatest achievement
Good luck with your pregnancy.
