I have my elective section in a few days due to previous birth traumas and severe perianal tears but as the day get closer, the more I’m scared I’m making the wrong decision. I’m scared about the pain after, healing and life in general

Hi! I ended up having an emergency c-section with my son and afterwards I was worried about the pain and healing however what I found was the “pain” (for me at least) was more an uncomfortable feeling rather than a proper pain, I was managing to walk slowly around the ward 24/48 hours afterwards. It was uncomfortable and felt like a pulling feeling but I kept on top of the medication and kept moving (take the pain meds before you know you need it!). When I got home I felt so much more comfortable I could move around the house when I wanted and be in my own environment! I am now 7 weeks post partum and have no pain or discomfort at all. I probably stopped taking any pain relief around 3 weeks post partum because I would forget I even had it done!
Now I know everyone is different and people manage pain in different ways but I was told to keep moving and keep on top of pain meds which I did and I seem to have healed really well!
I wish you all the best, here if you need to chat ❤️

I had an emergency c with my son.. I could control pain with medication ..the hardest part for me was relying on my husband to do everything lol .. i am very independent and love being active so it was very very difficult for me..

I had an emergency c-sec the first time and a planned the second time. It’s really not as bad as you think. My husband didn’t get paternity so I dealt with a 5 year old, a newborn and a puppy from day 2, as I was in the hospital til then. I stopped taking pain medication after day 6 and cause I can’t take tablets well I was taking children’s soluble Ibruprofen (7+) and that worked just fine for the pain. If they offer you a PICO definitely get one - I used it this second time and it’s so reassuring as it flashes green constantly if the wound is healing well. Had that taken off on day 7 too. I’m day 10 and I’ve been taking the kids to the park from day 7, and I feel fine doing so just no pushing on the swings and more sitting on the sidelines w/ the baby.I hope it goes well for you. Everyone goes at a different pace but it’s certainly do-able. My first c-sec, I took it much easier and was on the pain meds for 2 weeks but could just be cause it was the first time round. Best of luck x

I had a planned c-section and it was fine if a little weird. Felt like going in for a dentist appointment 😅 and was over so quickly! I was worried about the Spine needle but didn’t feel or see a thing.
Afterwards it is painful - but not unmanageable. Try not to laugh and ask for laxatives!
Keeping on top of the painkillers was a little hard as I was so tired, so my husband helped with that. I was up and about and going for short walks really quickly.
Good luck :)

I had a planned c-section after my first baby was delivered by emergency c-section and we both nearly died. I was so so scared that the same thing would happen but it was a totally different experience! It’s much calmer, you walk to theatre, you can have music on (we were allowed a playlist) not sure on all hospitals. But it was so much nicer, calmer and way more relaxed. The spinal doesn’t hurt at all, just some pressure in your back,
The recovery isn’t as bad either I don’t think because they are rushing. I am 13 days PP and able to do everything except lift x
