Daycare at 3 months

I unfortunately have to go back to work next month and need to place my baby in daycare. I feel so much guilt because he’s so young. The thought of someone else taking care of him all day breaks my heart.

I’ve already cried thinking about dropping him off on his first day. Posting this to hopefully hear others’ experiences.

How did you cope during the week before and week of your baby’s first week at daycare? How do you deal with the guilt?

I so wish I had family or friends to take care of him but they unfortunately have full time jobs too 😔

Def don’t feel guilt - moms are treated like an afterthought in the US! We don’t get leave like so many others. It’s horrific, to be honest. It’s not YOUR fault.

Mine went at 3 months too. It was sooooooo hard. I wasn’t even fully healed by then bc of complications at labor. But she’s 18 months now and LOVES daycare. Lights up, has friends, is doing activities all the time.

Really try to get to know the teachers - they will be your village! Ask for pictures and updates as you ease into it. Plan for lots of sick days as baby will naturally get sick the first year. 💜 Try to use the work day as YOU time, if possible. Grab a treat once in a while or go for a walk! Things you can’t do at home. Best of luck!

I had family watch him for the first few months and it was still so hard. I cried almost everyday and it was even harder when he grew old enough to realize I was leaving! Yes get to know the teachers. When I worked at preschools the parents were some of my favorite people. They will listen to your concerns and make sure the transition is as seamless as possible

How do you all do it?

I’ve got the best 7 month old son who is my absolute world, but I am struggling so much. How do you all manage everyday life?
Like, I wake up and he is awake so I feed change and clothe him. I need a shower but how?! I need to vacuum the house, but how?! He doesn’t sleep for longer than an hour and when he does I’m so overwhelmed with everything I need to do that I don’t know where to start.
I don’t know how to cope with not being me anymore. I miss being able to get up, shower and dress and be presentable.
Does anyone have any life saving tips?

Paying a sixth of what he believes is the weekly bills rent and food..

Hi everybody, I’m a single Mam 4. My partner and I had our son four years ago we hadn’t been together very long. He broke up at me when I was pregnant and then got back with me then moved in to my house without invitation two weeks before our son was born and said he’ll give me €70 a week as a “contribution” at the time I had just had a child. I was very emotional and didn’t want to argue with him about money. I am on a loan parent payment and he is full time employed at a well paid job. I have tried to bring it up few times that it is just unfair to think that a grown man can move out of his parents house move in with a single Mum and think that his donation of what he calls is about a sixth because I should have to pay the rest because of me and my four kids. (my youngest child is his)
I do all the cooking all the cleaning I do all his washing. I have his dinner ready for him when he comes home and I buy all the stuff for his lunches, so he doesn’t have to buy food when he’s in work he just thinks I should supply it and will eat stuff I have bought for my kids for their school lunches even though I ask him not to he laughed like it’s a joke.

Need opinions

Boyfriend: Mortgage, Hoa, Utilities
-works full time
-takes out trash

Girlfriend: Groceries/Necessities, Internet, Furniture
-works part time
-all childcare
-all household work

Car payments, phone bills etc. are personal. Is this a fair set up?
My boyfriend thinks I should be paying more bills but I don't think so because I earn less & do all the household labor. Also when calculating the percentage of our incomes spent on household expenses it comes out to a pretty equivalent percentage.
I suspect he's overspending on his own personal things because doing the math, he should be accumulating a savings with a moderate spending budget per month. But he says he is losing money dramatically and needs extra help. While I'm able to build a savings but I'm very frugal with what I spend on myself. But like I said we both contribute about 75-80% of our paychecks to household expenses so that leaves about 20-25% personal for each of us to do with what we wish.

Let me know if this is generally fair

I just witnessed my mother in law give my 2 year old a handful of whole grapes!

I don’t get why she would do this when she knows we cut them in half for her. Has anyone else had this issue with their in laws? I thought at first I might have been overreacting as I literally cried when I saw her give them to her because I couldn’t believe how stupid it was but then googled and it says wait till their 4-5 years old. I’m just upset and frustrated I didn’t say anything in the moment but I was just so shocked!
