Grief/bereavement during pregnancy

I am 27 weeks pregnant, first time mum to be. I lost my mum in June this year to cancer when I was around 17 weeks pregnant. It was unexpected.

I’m looking for advice for any Mums who have lost their own mum at any time, and how you have coped. Obviously, losing my mum whilst pregnant is one of the hardest things I’ve had to do and I mourn all the things she won’t get to experience with me.

Any advice is welcome and I’m sorry if any of you are part of this horrible club along with me 🤍

Hi, not sure I really have any advice tbh. But, you’re not alone.

I feel you 100%. I lost my mum 2 years ago and there are so many moments that I struggle with.

This sounds awful but I’m so envious that my partner gets to share it with his mum and see her excitement.

My mum would have been ecstatic and it has really brought up some feelings that has been difficult to navigate. X

My mum was diagnosed with terminal cancer when I was 16. I had two sons when I was 19 and 23 and going through that knowing how poorly my mum was, was horrible. She died when I was 25. I'm 42 now and expecting my third son. It's the first pregnancy where I haven't had my mum and I do miss her terrible at this time, even though she has been gone for 17 years.
I don't really have any advice other than to say that you are not the only one in this situation and it is really difficult. Sounds like your little one has come at the right time and you can focus on them now. Doesn't take away the loss but is a nice distraction. I'm sure your mum would be proud and not want you to feel sad and to enjoy the pregnancy. I had bereavement counselling and it really helped me, especially with all the hormones which don't help. Maybe you could speak to the GP/ midwife as it may help. Wishing you all the best xx

20 weeks scan today!!

Got my 20 week scan today , finding out the gender I’m so excited, just wondered if people fancied having a guess at what the gender could be (they all point towards boy also my fiancés side are mostly all boys lol).
- Carrying low
- Slight nausea for 2 weeks early first trimester but no actual vomiting
- Some headaches but not constant
- Cravings have been mostly savoury but some sweet
- No acne
- movement started about 16 weeks so quite early, very active baby just like their dad lol
- always hungry
++ boy on Chinese calendar 👀🤣

Cailean for a Boy name

My son is 18 months old and we love his name, we are not Scottish but the meaning of his name is very special to me. We’re saying it in an English way so it’s “Kay-lan” but I’m having comments about how it’s girly.

I’m sad that he might run into bullying bc I didn’t think it would be girly.

PLEASE tell me labour is coming 😅😅

Yesterday I did the mile circuit, hypnobirthing, on the ball, went for a walk, ate a whole pineapple, ate 6 dates, drank my raspberry leaf tea, had electrolytes, sweated my entire body out eating extra hot spicy dinner, had a long chill shower in the dark, belly laughed watching Michael McIntyre, had sex, used clary sage in the aromatherapy machine yet other than waking up to the odd tightening nothing concrete happened.

This morning I've been trying to deep clean the house but so far only just finished the bathroom because I keep getting diarrhea and my back is killing me! Mucus plug has been slowly coming out for the past week but have lost a bit more this morning, no blood or anything though...

Once I've finished cleaning I was thinking I'll have an aromatherapy bath and then might use my breast pump after...

Determined to get her out before Sunday cause I have to go to the hospital to talk about the plan to get her out then and I just don't want to do that 😬😬

I’m so done with this heatwave

Just having a vent, I know we’re on the same boat. Yet another one and at 37 weeks it’s not funny anymore. I just want to cry, it’s too hot to walk to town to sit in an air conditioned coffee shop.

hey my babes, i’m shook honestly🤣.. so i’m 34weeks and 4 days and i had a growth scan yesterday. I was told he’s 7lb already.. and that i have a lot of fluid surrounding me. i was told i had GD then i don’t, then i had to do then i done the finger pricking for 2 weeks passed that. now after the scan there saying i do.. but my partner was 10lb when he was born so i generally think it’s genetics on his side😭.. they are talking about inducing me which i DONT want to do and also a C section in which they get paid to do. I just want everything to be as natural as possible. Anyone else having/had a similar experience? x
